What have Liverpool done to warrant the title over City
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's difficult to retain the title as we have seen over the last few years. I think City will be held back by the lack of a top CF personally, could be wrong.

Leicester have signed Daka haven't they? He looks like a Vardy replacement to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It might take some time for him to settle in first and who knows how long Vardy has left at this point as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This..Daka does seem very highly rated and a good signing, but you’d probably expect 1-2 years for him to settle in coming from the Austrian league. Absolutely fine for a longer term Vardy replacement but I think the best thing they could’ve done is get an established top level striker to also prepare for short term
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If they believe Iheanacho has developed a new sense of life in his career then that might be their short term option. He did have a very good end to last season.
Minamino has taken time to adapt to the PL, he still isn't even there yet. Depending on how much Daka is used, you could see a similar scenario.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Minamino just seems like a fairly average player in fairness.
From the two games I saw him in the CL, Minamino was a dangerous player along with Haaland and Hwang Hee Chan for them at the time. He certainly didn't look like the weak link in that front three anyway.
Since he has moved to England though he has struggled to find his feet and replicate that level of performance admittedly.

Tbf we were top of the league at Christmas and top of the form table for the last 12 games.
Sure, we had 9 awful games but we all know why that was.
Personally I just hope lfc are difficult to beat again and the line can push up and make forwards more effective.
In theory the current top 4 incumbents should be heavy favourites to be the next top 4.
Spurs have made a decent appointment who will make them hard to beat without the drama, but they would imo need to focus only on the league to improve.
Arsenal haven't done anything to suggest they will improve. Defensively a mess.
Everton who knows what is next. Home form is their biggest issue.
West ham. No way they are doing the same again. Back to bottom half and firmly so.
Wolves, not coming back strongly imo.
Leicester are the interesting one. Great couple of years but failed to get top 4 but the trophy is great imo.
Can they do more? I dont see it personally

Yeah I understand that but ultimately the title wasn't retained for x, y and z reasons.
It's not impossible, City did it a few years ago, but the last decade or so has shown it is difficult to do.

Who also has a Premier League winners medal as well, so he can't be that bad.
He's also got a CL winners medal...
I'm almost certain he's going to replace Firmino with either Jota or Salah or a combination of the two.
He's toyed with playing all four this season as well.
City don’t even need a top cf to win the league. If they just get a competent one they’ll score even more goals next season.

They also managed to win the title with 3 first team CB's in 18/19, however, then they tried to do the same in 19/20 and it didn't work.
Interested to see who City buy (and sell).
They've normally done some business by now.

Dealing with Levy innit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think it's happening Darren.
I reckon it is.
I reckon City might walk away eventually. Despite their wealth, they regularly miss out on players due to not wanting to pay well over the odds. I’ve a feeling the same will happen again with Kane this summer.
Yeah fair point, not sure who they would go for, if anyone if that's the case.
Kane would be gutted I reckon.
Yeah never really know what City are gonna do in the transfer market. Apart from buy more defenders.
£100m for one of the top 3 strikers in the world plus players is rubbish with 3 years left on his deal at peak age. they said they'd include players but if they want him just bid £130m or something, dont even think Levy accepts that but that is more of a reasonable offer and one spurs should probably regrettably accept.
they need 2 players top players to compensate for his loss as well as the 3 players they need already.
the rest is set a side for future sensible squad building.
this is spurs we are talking about though.
cant forget also (cant blame them either) but there are other players at the club who also want to leave or should be finally facked off. too much activity in one window could see a very ugly season.
Kane still goes for good money next summer imo.
Yeah agreed.
I think it depends on how the money is paid though.
So £100m up front right now plus say £10m add ons is probably better for Spurs than £140m spread over 5 years atm.
Surely it depends on the players?
he wants to stay in the league, and City = guaranteed trophies so its easy to see why hes so desperate when that is a side chasing him also.
ive read that this summer is no or never for City which i find a bit bizarre.
even United if they improve this coming season, could go out and spend big on Kane next summer when more gettable and that could be difference in them winning the league the following season for the first time in ages. risk worth taking.
Kanes injuries and age are very much overplayed, the way he plays isnt reliant on pace and hes already adapted his game, so can again. could play and win trophies way into his 30s, its just fashionable for teams to have younger players. (understand if can get for similar or lower fees, but only one team can get Haaland next summer for example and theres not an awful lot else out there as good)
