What do your rivals need?

I highly doubt City would pump £100-150m on a striker to have him sat on the bench. Maybe if he reaches mid 30's he will be, but even then, why would they?

If he goes to City, he will break Shearer's record. He probably still will at Spurs to be honest, but I wouldn't be as sure.

I just don't see Kane at City. Pep likes small, highly technically skilled players in attack . Not really a description of Kane is it? £100m would be better spent elsewhere, although a striker who can take a penalty would be very welcome.

Just because Kane isn’t small doesn’t mean he’s not technically skilled. If he wasn’t so good at scoring goals he’d have been an attacking midfielder.

He has nowhere near the level of technical skill of the players that Pep likes to bring in and work with. Where would you put his technical skills compared to players that city have now or have had in the past 5 years? Better than Jesus? Better than Bernardo? Mahrez? KDB? Foden? Merlin?

As far as strikers go, Kane’s at the highest level. There’s a reason Pep loves him and it’s because of his playmaking ability.

Haaland or Lukaku would be better fit and, although more expensive would be the best out there at the moment. Can't see either of them happening.

Right now I would not assume city will win anything, they lack that forward and kdb is not getting any younger

Utd will do the same as last year. Easy wins v bottom and struggle v top teams as their defense is a low block. Lots of firepower, little leadership so far.

Chelsea should win everything with their squad and breaking ffp left and right. Anything else imo is failure.

As for us. Forwards not getting younger. Fighting leicester and the rest for 4th

Easy wins

Ha

Didn’t United set a record in most comebacks?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes they did get lucky but their top 6 record is on record, a lot of draws and 0-0s
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So that would suggest they didn’t have generic easy wins vs the non top 6 and would also suggest the top 6 struggled to find ways to beat United

Hold up a minute. You said Kane wouldn’t be a good fit due to his lack of technical ability.

Then you say Lukaku would be a good fit. Are you high?

Not at all, he wouldn't be used in the same way though. City had a 'bull at the gate' striker a few years ago (Negredo) who was a good foil for the more technical players, so although Lukaku would not be a starter in every game there are times a more direct approach from a striker is needed. Something City don't have at the moment.

It's common knowledge City have enquired about Kane more than once. In fact they did back in January.

Jane is an excellent fit for City and Pep won't be there forever anyway.

City - Desperately need a new striker, Jesus isn't good enough.

United - Need a proper defensive midfielder, a right back that can attack. Sancho will help.

Liverpool - A Wijnaldum replacement, luck on the injury front and potentially a striker.

Chelsea - I'm think they could do with a top class CB and a finisher. If they get Haaland, good night to the rest of the league.

Leicester - Hard to see how they can improve much being at the level they are but LB, RW and CM would be areas i would look at.

West Ham United - They only have about 3 midfielders so they need reinforcements there, on the wing, up front, across the defence, keeper. How the fook did they finish 6th actually

Spurs - Ings would be an exciting move, they need CBs. Depends on how Nuno will set up what else they need to prioritise imo.

Arsenal - New manager would be the best place to start. Then GK, CB, CM and RW.

Predictions at this stage.

1st Liverpool
2nd Chelsea
3rd Manchester City
4th Manchester United
5th Leicester City
6th Tottenham Hotspur
7th Everton
8th West Ham

Leicester have signed Bertrand so left back is covered. We signed Soumare so central midfield is covered. We signed Daka as a future replacement for Vardy and yes it may take time for him to settle in but we have Vardy and Iheanacho so we can allow him time to settle.

We need another centre half as cover and I hope we get Kabak, I think he would be ideal. That leaves a right winger, a position we have been in desperate need of filling since Mahrez left but I’d like to see us sign two, perhaps someone young like Dan James and more experienced like Berardi or Coutinho, though nobody knows how Coutinho’s injuries might have affected him. Right wing is definitely our weak link.

1. Chelsea (Tuchel sacked in 22/23 season)
2. Liverpool (should have a defence)
3. City (can see a big drop off with some slightly ageing key players)
4. United (Ole loses the wheel and Sancho flops, buy Kane for title push for 22/23 season)
5. Lesta (more consistent season, better squad depth but further behind top 4)
6/7. Arsenal/Spurs
8. Everton
9. Leeds
10. Villa
11-19. Who cares
20. West ham

It's a proper eye test moment.

For ages I've never seen the fuss with Kane, mainly because I hadn't enjoyed watching him, and despite his numbers I was not convinced. A real Mario Gomez. This season... oh so wrong.

I think people go mad over play age these days, it's not the 90's, they're teetotal in the main, surgery is less intrusive, diet is better, etc, etc.

He'd be a game changing signing for City, gives at least two different ways of playing and still has at least five years in him.

I hope they don't get him.

I'm just talking numbers Darren. Kind of the point I was making that I was a bit clueless about Kane.

I think the non City fans are missing the point I am making about Kane. It has nothing to do with his ability. Pep seems very happy to play without a striker, he seems to prefer it when the front 5 rotate endlessly. However, there are games when that clearly isn't working and a more direct approach is needed. The last time City had that kind of player was Negredo. Was he better than Aguero? Of course not. Was he what was needed in certain situations? Yes he was and City have missed that. Pep can, as we all know, be very stubborn but the ability to use someone who can just mix it with the CB's like Negredo would be a useful thing to have. Kane is just a different type of striker, certainly more skilled than a Negredo type but maybe not as effective for City when that smash the door in approach is needed.

As said it's common knowledge that City are interested, they enquired in January, so I'm not sure what your point is tbh.

Given that City almost always keep dealings very private, I don't believe very much 'common knowledge'.

Yes who knew you were signing Sterling for example. Good post.

Nobody is missing your point about Kane. We just correctly think it’s reetarded.
