Sounds like Jimmy will play and Hameed will come in for Crawley.

Well I definitely wouldn't fancy a bat first, not with our line up on a grey day. However I think the first few days are pretty similar weather wise.

Can see England causing them problems this morning

Probably the right selections according to players available, especially since we won't bowl fourth so hopefully can get away without a specialist spinner. Big first session. If India survive relatively intact then it could be a long old match...

Ishant Sharma has come in for India, so no Ashwin.

That's a positive that Jimmy is in, presumably Robinson will share the new ball with him although it could be tempting to give it to Curran to see what he can do with it.

Sad to see Lawrence discarded but I'm not surprised. I still think he's got a future at this level though.

Yeah looks like Hameed at 3, Buttler at 6, Moeen at 7. Wood at 10 over Broad should get us a few more runs as well, Wood's been quite handy with the bat of late.

And they're off for rain straight away.

I think Root would have opted to bat if he had more faith in our batsmen so I can understand his decision to bowl but generally in test cricket you want to bat first.
