Interesting that over half people polled feel that there has been too much media coverage:
Q: "When it comes to media coverage of the death of the Queen, do you think it has been too much, too little, or about right?"
About right = 39%
Too much = 55%
Too little = 1%
Don’t know = 5%

Think you're being disingenuous if you're suggesting the only reason people support the monarchy is because they like it.
Loads of reason have been given over the years like the net contribution to the economy, having global ambassadors, having a head of state who is independent when it comes to politics etc.
It's hardly a straightforward debate like you're implying.

Propoganda maybe a bit strong to describe what are witnessing.
But the oversaturation of coverage on BBC (and elsewhere) of first the platty jubes, and now whatever they're calling the latest pantomime is bordering on the ridiculous.
I get it, the Queen meant a lot to many people.
But equally there is a minority, and a large one at that, who have a passing interest or just don't really care, and participation is being forced down their throats whether they like it or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, I do think 'propaganda' is an appropriate word though because they're trying to convince the populace that something that is bad for them is actually good for them.
How people can deny it I do not understand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because you cannot understand how people that think differently to you feel. You lack empathy my dear fellow and are very blinkered and close-minded.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you say the same if I made similar arguments about people that vote for the Tories despite the infinite reasons not to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fully understand the reasons why people dislike the Conservatives and the reasons why people prefer them over the alternatives.
You don’t seem to understand how the majority of the population feel about the monarchy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just think that we’ve all been brainwashed by propaganda.
I don’t think Labour voters are brainwashed, I don’t think champagne socialists are brainwashed either. I just don’t agree with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if the shoe fits...
People here have listed many, many reasons why the monarchy is a bad thing - these are presented to royalists and in the main they reply 'well, I like them anyway so...'
So brainwashing is the only explanation. And in a way I can't blame them because it started when they were children in history class, and continues to this day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is, the fact that I and others value tradition is not because of propaganda. I value tradition in a lot of my life, I think it's important.
That plus the benefits of not having an elected HOS are my biggest reasons behind supporting the monarchy.
You just don't value those same things, which is fair enough.
Doesn't mean I'm brainwashed and you know better...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what I mean when I say that they will never understand how others feel. They’ve been told these reasons many times but because they don’t accept it then it’s just us being brainwashed.

Results from another poll, taken same site as the previous one:
Q: "Have you cried or become teary/welled up at any point due to the death of the Queen?"
I have = 44%
I have not = 54%
Don’t know = 2%
Got to admit, thought it would be higher than 44% given the carry on.

Surely this tells you just how important the whole situation is to people?

Valuing tradition is part of the propaganda, though. That’s something that can been seen in any culture that wants to promote a certain system.

That's moronic.
