Propoganda maybe a bit strong to describe what are witnessing.
But the oversaturation of coverage on BBC (and elsewhere) of first the platty jubes, and now whatever they're calling the latest pantomime is bordering on the ridiculous.
I get it, the Queen meant a lot to many people.
But equally there is a minority, and a large one at that, who have a passing interest or just don't really care, and participation is being forced down their throats whether they like it or not.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, I do think 'propaganda' is an appropriate word though because they're trying to convince the populace that something that is bad for them is actually good for them.
How people can deny it I do not understand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You and many others have spent the last few days extensively telling us how bad the monarchy is.
The fact that nobody has changed their minds on it might tell you that it's not just because of propaganda, we just don't feel the same way you do?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You don't feel the same, against all the evidence - and while offering nothing in response.

People are constantly changing their minds about it though.
As I've mentioned to you already, 15% of the people that supported the monarchy 10 years ago do not support it any more.
The monarchy is hemorrhaging support.

This is why Meghan and Harry to here their toys out the pram. Something like that simply doesn't happen without a stamp of approval from senior elements of the royal family. There were no attempts to control the media as would have been usual. There were no corrections or statements condemning the behaviour of the media. The royal family did not deploy it's PR machinery to help them out. You can't go after a royal like that unless allowed to and they hinted at this in their interviews.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't be daft
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You still banging on about Harry & Meghan mate?
The monarchy have contacts within the press for sure and I don’t doubt that bits have been buried but it’s nothing like a blackout. Diana, Charles, Harry, Horse face, Camilla, Philip - all have been slammed in the press over the years. Including your blessed Meghan Markle
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only when there was no other choice, except in Meghan's case. They set the big dogs on her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hahahaah poor Meghan 😂 🐶 🐶
Dem corgis chewed her a new one
----------------------------------------------------------------------
For sure. But boy did they pay for it.

A million people are expected to come to London and nine billion around the world to watch on TV
=====
The global population is less than 9 billion so even if everyone in the world watched, including toddlers and newborn babies, it still wouldn't be 9b.
The psychophancy around the monarchy is puke inducing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah focus on the incorrect flippant number provided, that’s important.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not focusing on the flippant number, I'm focussing on the pyschophancy.

You spent more time on the number than the *sycophancy*
I don’t expect you to understand how others feel mate, you’re the same as most anti-monarchs. At least you’re not at North Korean comparison levels yet….I hope…..

Peaked in 2012 presumably due to the jubilee and Olympics.

If he can use his new platform to push for a greater national effort towards climate change, I don't see any reason why the public wouldn't warm to that.
I also think that William is more popular than Charles, which MAY send those polls in the other direction.

Well if the shoe fits...
People here have listed many, many reasons why the monarchy is a bad thing - these are presented to royalists and in the main they reply 'well, I like them anyway so...'
So brainwashing is the only explanation. And in a way I can't blame them because it started when they were children in history class, and continues to this day.
Interesting that over half people polled feel that there has been too much media coverage:
Q: "When it comes to media coverage of the death of the Queen, do you think it has been too much, too little, or about right?"
About right = 39%
Too much = 55%
Too little = 1%
Don’t know = 5%

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because you cannot understand how people that think differently to you feel. You lack empathy my dear fellow and are very blinkered and close-minded.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you say the same if I made similar arguments about people that vote for the Tories despite the infinite reasons not to?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I fully understand the reasons why people dislike the Conservatives and the reasons why people prefer them over the alternatives.
You don’t seem to understand how the majority of the population feel about the monarchy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You just think that we’ve all been brainwashed by propaganda.
I don’t think Labour voters are brainwashed, I don’t think champagne socialists are brainwashed either. I just don’t agree with them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well if the shoe fits...
People here have listed many, many reasons why the monarchy is a bad thing - these are presented to royalists and in the main they reply 'well, I like them anyway so...'
So brainwashing is the only explanation. And in a way I can't blame them because it started when they were children in history class, and continues to this day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is, the fact that I and others value tradition is not because of propaganda. I value tradition in a lot of my life, I think it's important.
That plus the benefits of not having an elected HOS are my biggest reasons behind supporting the monarchy.
You just don't value those same things, which is fair enough.
Doesn't mean I'm brainwashed and you know better...

This is why Meghan and Harry to here their toys out the pram. Something like that simply doesn't happen without a stamp of approval from senior elements of the royal family. There were no attempts to control the media as would have been usual. There were no corrections or statements condemning the behaviour of the media. The royal family did not deploy it's PR machinery to help them out. You can't go after a royal like that unless allowed to and they hinted at this in their interviews.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't be daft
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You still banging on about Harry & Meghan mate?
The monarchy have contacts within the press for sure and I don’t doubt that bits have been buried but it’s nothing like a blackout. Diana, Charles, Harry, Horse face, Camilla, Philip - all have been slammed in the press over the years. Including your blessed Meghan Markle
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only when there was no other choice, except in Meghan's case. They set the big dogs on her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hahahaah poor Meghan 😂 🐶 🐶
Dem corgis chewed her a new one

For sure. But boy did they pay for it.

=====
The global population is less than 9 billion so even if everyone in the world watched, including toddlers and newborn babies, it still wouldn't be 9b.
The psychophancy around the monarchy is puke inducing.

The last week has been the most significant change in the monarchy in 70 years, it's a whole new personality who has been incessantly involved in climate change over the last number of years.
If he can use his new platform to push for a greater national effort towards climate change, I don't see any reason why the public wouldn't warm to that.
I also think that William is more popular than Charles, which MAY send those polls in the other direction.
I may be wrong, but I'm not saying this without any basis.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
People are constantly changing their minds about it though.
As I've mentioned to you already, 15% of the people that supported the monarchy 10 years ago do not support it any more.
The monarchy is hemorrhaging support.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How many times do I have to respond to the same point?
There are quite obvious reasons why support has fallen in the last 10 years, Andrew and Harry being the two main ones.
It doesn't mean it will continue to do so and I actually expect this whole situation may reverse that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're missing the point. It was declining long before Andrew and Harry. It's been declining for decades and the pace has picked up in the last 10 years. There has never been a reverse and I don't think there ever will be. Your expectations of a reversal are not only unsupported by evidence but also unfortunate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The last week has been the most significant change in the monarchy in 70 years, it's a whole new personality who has been incessantly involved in climate change over the last number of years.
If he can use his new platform to push for a greater national effort towards climate change, I don't see any reason why the public wouldn't warm to that.
I also think that William is more popular than Charles, which MAY send those polls in the other direction.
I may be wrong, but I'm not saying this without any basis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They had a beloved Queen who also supported climate reforms. The idea that they could do better with a king with racism in his past and cheating on his wife etc etc is laughable to me but I could be wrong. We'll see.

Abolition became more frequent in the 20th century, with the number of monarchies in Europe falling from 22 to 12 between 1914 and 2015, and the number of republics rising from 4 to 34.
Only one way this is going. All monarchies are doomed, even Swaziland. It's just a matter of time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Makes ours all the more unique tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or makes us primitive and desperately clinging to past glories and nonsensical structures.

Propoganda maybe a bit strong to describe what are witnessing.

Interesting that over half people polled feel that there has been too much media coverage:
Q: "When it comes to media coverage of the death of the Queen, do you think it has been too much, too little, or about right?"
About right = 39%
Too much = 55%
Too little = 1%
Don’t know = 5%

‘It’s not propaganda because people agree with the propaganda.’
That’s the argument here.
