Talk is now that Guedes is flying to Portugal tonight and will join Benfica on loan until the end of the season, with no option to buy
Just seen video of Guedes arriving at Lisbon Airport welcomed by loads of reporters and film crews. Seems its big news over there. Well good luck to him and good riddance, just hope it doesn't turn in to another Traore scenario.
As for Silva wanting to join PSV, hope its not just to link up with his mate Hoever so they can stand around chatting and looking disinterested rather than getting warmed up on the sidelines.
Seems that Craig Dawson is on his way as the next signing
I think the Guedes loan will turn into the same scenario as we had with Traore because I don't think there's a buy option in the loan agreement. Hopefully he will do well at Benfica and generate some transfer interest in the summer
Some reports that Connor Ronan could be heading to join Jack Price in Colorado. I'm surprised that he hasnt had more chances this season but clearly Lopetegui doesnt see him as part of the plan which is a bit of a shame. Must admit though that in the games I saw him in this season it didnt really look like his game had improved as much as expected. Suspect that the move may be conditional upon Joao Gomes arriving which seems to be getting dragged out by his club. Tony Roberts tweeted #freeJoaoGomes yesterday which was both unusual and intriguing.
BBC
"Wolves have agreed a £3.3m fee with West Ham for defender Craig Dawson.
Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui has targeted the 32-year-old to strengthen his defence.
Dawson had indicated a wish to move further north and was left out of West Ham’s defeat at Wolves last Saturday by manager David Moyes.
However, it is understood a deal is now in place, although Dawson is still to be cleared for a medical.
Dawson has proved to be a popular figure at West Ham, having performed impressively in the two-and-a-half years since he joined the club, initially on loan, from Watford in October 2020.
He has made 87 appearances in all competitions and started all six Europa League knockout round games last season as West Ham reached the semi-finals."
so we spend just about the same money we got for selling a 29 year old current international centre back to Everton on a 32 year old centre back fro West Ham.
Dawson may prove to be a good buy for the money, but no-one will convince me that selling Coady wasn't ridiculous.
I think Ronan has been unlucky. He is close to being good enough but maybe not quite compared to the players we can bring in through the transfer market. Also maybe he has been overtaken in the pecking order by Joe Hodge. I suspect he will do well in the MLS, as Jack Price has done.
As for Gomes it seems that Lyon have offered more money than Wolves to Flamingo and they would like to accept that offer. But it seems the player wants to join Wolves not Lyon. As there seems to be some tie up between the ownership of Lyon and Flamingo it may be that games are being played to boost the transfer fee. Hope Wolves find a way through that as he seems to be a special talent, and someone that wants to come here.
I think Dawson will prove to be a good signing and gets us to the point with centre backs of having 4 decent options for the two positions in Dawson, Kilman, Collins and Toti. I suspect we will see Mosquera now go out on loan.
I think Coady was only going to remain an asset for us if we were sticking to 3 at the back. But to let him go on loan with such a low buy out clause was ridiculous. I think we can blame Bruno and Jeff for that one.

It's a completely different scenario, it's just a loan deal with no Option/Obligation - I still believe there's a player in there, the issue is whether it's a premier league player

Is it your autocorrect or do you genuinely think they are called Flamingo?

He comes across to me like a player low on confidence. I think him going out and getting some minutes under his belt and build his confidence back is a good thing. We can then reassess in the summer.
His value will be rock bottom right now. If he scores goals at Benfica we either get a good player back or an asset with a higher value to sell.
Maybe wrong but I just got the impression with Guedes that he never really settled into life in the uk. Happens sometimes with signings from abroad, and if you’re not happy off the field you probably won’t perform on it. No question he’s a better player than we saw from him in a Wolves shirt
Flamengo don’t even play in pink
I wanted Dawson a couple of years back. Solid defender and hopefully get a good couple of seasons from him.
Watched a Flamengo game in Rio, Robinho was the only star in the side i remember
West Ham face a vital home game against Everton tomorrow and won't be allowing Dawson to sign for Wolves until next week. They don't have any more league games in January and expect to bring in a replacement before the window closes
reading between the lines i wonder if we may see 4-2-3-1 soon? Julen refered to Sarabia as a ten.
Campana who was on loan at Inter Miami has now joined them permanently for a fee of around £2m
Wolves had agreed a deal for Gomes of £15m but now Flamengo are asking Wolves to match the deal put forward by Lyon which is evidently €19m. Does feel like fun and games between Lyon and Flamengo both partly owned by the same person. But then it would be a shame if Wolves missed out on such a highly rated prospect by not being willing to find the couple of million to secure the deal
With the current exchange rate £15m is approximately €17.2m, hardly a real difference. Or was £15m supposed to have read €15m?
A couple of million is nearly a real difference though?

No it’s as you say. At least that’s what’s being reported. Whatever, the difference appears to be small in the world of transfers
