Elvis in this country you have to prove guilt not innocence. Being innocent isn't a charge
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Youre talking about a court of law. That's irrelevant now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So where else is there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. It is going to be hard for United to bring Mason back into the team unless the public opinion of him changes massively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. AKA vigilante. I'm sure he might get what's coming, one day
Anyway, as I said. I'm sure United will be very aware of this when they decide his future.
It all getting very silly now
Arsenal had their fans onside with selling Auba because he was late for training. You think Manchester United can get fans onside with Greenwood because the club has made a decision and not told any of the fans about why because ‘innocent until proven guilty’?

As I have said I'm not sure United want to get fans 'onside' about Greenwood.
They have to if they want to keep him at the club.

No I don’t. I’m responding to this comment your made:
Elvis in this country you have to prove guilt not innocence. Being innocent isn't a charge.
Regardless of this, I'm sure Man United have more insight into the actual facts to this case than the likes of us, which reasonably makes me think that if the Club and Manager decides based on what they know that its ok for him to wear the Red shirt again, then I will gamble my trust with them.
That’s your prerogative to take that position. But to dismiss the court of public opinion when it comes to football is ridiculous. Footballers leave clubs for far less because of fan reactions. That’s why innocent until proven guilty is irrelevant in this situation. Whether that is right or wrong is a different debate.

No I'm not talking about him getting battered by someone. What I am saying is that the general opinion of the public is that Mason is very bad person. And that makes it very difficult for United to bring him back into the first team, even without considering the potential financial implications. Unless Mason can do something to sway the publics opinion on him, I don't think he plays for United again.

Will probably get dogs abuse for this but if he comes out and admits what he did and lists the steps he is taking to be a better person, I would forgive him and let him play for Utd again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He could do a TV interview with somedy sensible to explain things with either the truth or even his point of view. Although he doesnt actually have to explain himself to us or anybody in public for that matter. But he'd be foolish not to though, if he wants to start to put it behind him.
But if United, and Ten Hag decided that with all things considered it was ok for him to now return to the squad with a view to contributing on the pitch, then that's good enough for me. I dont think this will happen though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, there is potential redemption for him but he has to own up to what happened.
The club has to understand this and make sure this gets out accurately and also monitors his behaviour should there be a reoccurrence.
If he did that, I hope the manager would give him a chance.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The word is that she made the audio / rape when she suspected he was cheating / dumping her, and she never intended for it to get out. He isnt going to throw her under the bus to appease SOME fans.
Problem is, whatever he said, those that have hung, drawn and quartered him already will simply dismiss.

the other problem is that the sponsors have also said they could take legal action if he returns im sure I read it?
and in this woke day in age is hugely likely they will try and enforce that rather than change their mind.

There’s the risk that he repeats behaviour which results in a further criminal charge.
Which conviction or otherwise would destroy United.

What exactly do you think would happen should he play for us again come August?
We would still get our TV money.
Players wouldn't walk out or strike.
We'd still sell out Old Trafford.
Sponsors could be replaced IF they cancelled, which is highly unlikely anyway.

They have to if they want to keep him at the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You think United want to keep him? I not sure about that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nobody knows what the club are thinking let's be honest.
Caughtoffside is an awful source too.
And then going abroad with a new baby given everything that has happened doesn't sound very plausible to me. Can't imagine Harriet will want to leave all her family and friends behind even more so now.

Elvis in this country you have to prove guilt not innocence. Being innocent isn't a charge
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Youre talking about a court of law. That's irrelevant now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So where else is there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. It is going to be hard for United to bring Mason back into the team unless the public opinion of him changes massively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. AKA vigilante. I'm sure he might get what's coming, one day
Anyway, as I said. I'm sure United will be very aware of this when they decide his future.
It all getting very silly now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'm not talking about him getting battered by someone. What I am saying is that the general opinion of the public is that Mason is very bad person. And that makes it very difficult for United to bring him back into the first team, even without considering the potential financial implications. Unless Mason can do something to sway the publics opinion on him, I don't think he plays for United again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly what I said Elvis.
Maybe he does a TV interview.

TV interview does feck all for him unless he puts forward some evidence that it was a s3x game. In which case Hariet could be in trouble for initially giving a statement against him/wasting police time/perverting the course of justice.

But unless he’s able to redeem his reputation to still remain a footballer, that’s his only option.
And I can’t imagine Harriet will have much say in the decision given the balance of power.

There’s more than that.
There’s the risk that he repeats behaviour which results in a further criminal charge.
Which conviction or otherwise would destroy United.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Clubs aren't destroyed when their players commit horrible crimes.

No they don't.
What exactly do you think would happen should he play for us again come August?
We would still get our TV money.
Players wouldn't walk out or strike.
We'd still sell out Old Trafford.
Sponsors could be replaced IF they cancelled, which is highly unlikely anyway.

Most people don't give a toss either way.
Most United fans will accept
He is young and immature.
Their are things we don't know about what happened.
It was dropped following an investigation.
They are back together and expecting.
Nobody on here is willing to commit to not following United again should he return, so why do you think it would destroy the club?
