Elvis in this country you have to prove guilt not innocence. Being innocent isn't a charge

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Youre talking about a court of law. That's irrelevant now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So where else is there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. It is going to be hard for United to bring Mason back into the team unless the public opinion of him changes massively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Court of opinion. AKA vigilante. I'm sure he might get what's coming, one day

Anyway, as I said. I'm sure United will be very aware of this when they decide his future.

It all getting very silly now

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'm not talking about him getting battered by someone. What I am saying is that the general opinion of the public is that Mason is very bad person. And that makes it very difficult for United to bring him back into the first team, even without considering the potential financial implications. Unless Mason can do something to sway the publics opinion on him, I don't think he plays for United again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Most people don't give a toss either way.

Most United fans will accept

He is young and immature.
Their are things we don't know about what happened.
It was dropped following an investigation.
They are back together and expecting.

Nobody on here is willing to commit to not following United again should he return, so why do you think it would destroy the club?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
then your out of touch with the public perception.

Most people think he is guilty, regardless of what the court says. Most have seen / heard the footage and made up their own minds. thats how society works now.

Exactly what I said Elvis.

Maybe he does a TV interview.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TV interview does feck all for him unless he puts forward some evidence that it was a s3x game. In which case Hariet could be in trouble for initially giving a statement against him/wasting police time/perverting the course of justice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He doesnt have to provide evidence to placate some people who are outraged on behalf of the girl who wasn't prepared to give evidence against him and is back with him and having his child.

Yes, some abuse victims stay with their abusers, but that doesn't mean she is with him for the wrong reasons.

And the police are not about to pursue a pregnant young girl on such charges,.especially if you believe she is being co erred/ manipulated.

Public backlash. We arent about to see an exodus of fans if he plays again. Will you commit now to no longer following United if he plays again?

Sponsorship legal action - I'm sure this would be considered, but the shirt sponsorship has been cancelled early by us, already, suggesting we are confident of replacing them with a bigger / better deal.

Adidas aren't about to cut ties with United over this. They dropped Kanye West and made HUGE losses as a result, whilst Kanye West's trainers still sell for silly money.

Adidas didn't walk from Bayern Munich when Ribery was accused of 5ex with an underage girl. Neither did they insist Ribery be sacked.

it doesnt have to be the club own fans but there will defo be an element within against it. It will be every other persons opinion and Man Utd are a brand, and the deals involved in sponsorship will heavily rely on the public general perception from fans and non fans.

Elvis in this country you have to prove guilt not innocence. Being innocent isn't a charge

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Youre talking about a court of law. That's irrelevant now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So where else is there?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Court of opinion. It is going to be hard for United to bring Mason back into the team unless the public opinion of him changes massively.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Court of opinion. AKA vigilante. I'm sure he might get what's coming, one day

Anyway, as I said. I'm sure United will be very aware of this when they decide his future.

It all getting very silly now

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'm not talking about him getting battered by someone. What I am saying is that the general opinion of the public is that Mason is very bad person. And that makes it very difficult for United to bring him back into the first team, even without considering the potential financial implications. Unless Mason can do something to sway the publics opinion on him, I don't think he plays for United again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly what I said Elvis.

Maybe he does a TV interview.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TV interview does feck all for him unless he puts forward some evidence that it was a s3x game. In which case Hariet could be in trouble for initially giving a statement against him/wasting police time/perverting the course of justice.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe.

Like I say I think that United will probably let him go rather than do a PR job in keeping him at the club.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Me too. The risk is too great.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What, specifically, is the great risk to United?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
public backlash, sponsorship legal action
----------------------------------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------
it doesnt have to be the club own fans but there will defo be an element within against it. It will be every other persons opinion and Man Utd are a brand, and the deals involved in sponsorship will heavily rely on the public general perception from fans and non fans.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sponsors are primarily paying to have their brand exposed to the viewing public. Not necessarily United fans.

Would many of us really not buy a pair of Adidas trainers or a Chevrolet car just because Greenwood stayed at United?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Brands don't tend to like social media backlash and campaigns against them. What do you think might happen if Greenwood starts playing for us again?

Greenwood's would have to be more of an apology and an explanation the effects of counselling are having with a huge dose of humility for it to be even half worth doing, I think it'd be how sincere he looked that might make it work (not sure even then).

Prince Andrew going on TV to announce he wasn't as noncey as we all thought actually was never going to work.

We both know that no matter any explanation that were offered it would be dismissed by those who have made their minds up already.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Which is understandable for anyone that has heard the audio. I am not completely closed to the idea that he is innocent, but having hear the audio, I find it highly unlikely.

I don't think the backlash would be anywhere near enough to bother the sponsors.

If he played again, Iv no doubt he'd be booed and jeered for maybe the first season back, but football forgets pretty quickly.
