Back in July I met an Israeli couple on holiday in Portugal. They were horrified at the situation back home over some reform Netanyahu and the fundamentalists were trying to push through and they reckoned the country was on the brink of a civil war.
I hadn't really kept track of what had gone down since then up until the Hamas attacks, other than reading a short while beforehand that orthodox Jews had taken of late to spitting at Christians who were on their way to worship in Jerusalem.
Whatever it was that is/was going on behind the scenes in the buildup to the current conflict, it seems that domestically the air was turning pretty foul in Israel. It will be interesting to see if the current situation has served to unify public opinion to a degree around the government, or whether they'll come out of this at the far end having completely lost the Israeli people.
As for the international scene, the prestige of the US has already been severely eroded in recent years, having lost a lot of hearts and minds to China. Siding so unequivocally with Israel is not going to be doing them any favours, especially not considering how many times they've already found themselves in a minority of two at the U.N.
Oh, and speaking of Portugal...what's with Rosso? Is he AWOL, or have I just lost track of him due to his latest name change?

Sadly he seems to have gone away forever. Hopefully it’s just because he’s busy in a positive way rather than any tragic reason. Shame as he was a top 5 poster on here. Now that just leaves myself and the other three.
FIFA will probably give them a World Cup to host in a few years.
they reckoned the country was on the brink of a civil war.

Seems very convenient that these Hamas terrorists managed to get into Israel so easily
Almost too convenient 🤫
Think Rosso was just fed up with the state of United and lost interest.
When did he go missing, over the summer? Was there any kind of trigger or warning sign, or did he pull a Tommy Cooper?

He’s been AWOL since mid August

Hasn’t it already been stated that both the CIA and Egyptian intelligence warned Israel about the attacks?
What annoys me is the feckwits on LinkedIn constantly posting about it, siding with Israel at every opportunity and shaming anything related to Palestine.
Ignoring the conflict for just a second…
How long has Rosso lived in Portugal?! He’s never mentioned it

Yeah right! I was shocked when I just read that. In case you didn’t know either but I live in Australia. And Arab can’t wait for this season to be over.

No way, Netanyahu's an upright, law-abiding, and generally impeccable citizen.
On one of the major reasons dividing Israeli public opinion:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Israeli_judicial_reform_protests
It includes this little snippet:
On 9 August 2023, hundreds of Israeli and American academics published a statement claiming that the ultimate purpose of the judicial overhaul was to "annex more land, and ethnically cleanse all territories under Israeli rule of their Palestinian population".
---
Who could ever have imagined that this might upset the Palestinians?
And Arab can’t wait for this season to be over.
------
I read unverified reports of Hamas destroying 22 land vehicles belonging to Israel today. Also a Russian news agency was given access to the underground tunnels belonging to Hamas and even interviewed some of their members.
Having seen footage of the tunnels, I have no idea which way this war will go.
One thing for certain is the Zionists have a firm grip on fhe media narrative. Suella Braven who is married to Rael Braverman(a proud member of the Jewish community and manager of Mercedes) described Free Palestine rallies as "Hate marches".
What with Rishi flying the Israel flag at Downing Street and Starmer still not calling for ceasefire, this country is once again is truly in the gutter.
Starmer is such a coward right now. I understand he’s playing the game but hopefully people remember how little spine he has.

The 2 parties are controlled by the same people
Because they don't have control of social media, it should have been expected they would try to crack down on anything pro-palestinian and scare people into submission.
