Must be the Neto alternative, never heard of him, another kid, seems a punt, not sure he improves the first XI, maybe he will be the second coming of Ginola.
I`m not sure what is going on with the football operation, it appears we are stockpiling teenagers with a view to making profits or building a squad to challenge in 2030, when we need some proven quality to improve to first XI for this season.
Vintage Levy.
Pretty happy with this window now.
Spent big on a top striker.
Then a similar amount on two excellent prospects in Gray and Odebert.
Add Bergvall and Moore into the mix and we have some seriously promising teenagers. Feels like the club is back on track after the bleak years of Jose, Nuno and Conte.

Sorry lads, I'm just a bit cheesed off that the rumoured marquee winger hasn't played out. I really thought we were going to get Neto or Eze this summer but that's defo done now. It's just hard to get excited about a player you've never heard of.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same old same old, cheap and cheerful and then hope for the best, it’s the Levy way.
I still wonder about how ambitious we are being though
I thought this may be a window where we really stamped our mark.. I don't think anyone will be running scared.
We were linked with Toney, Eze, Neto, etc and have ended up with Solanke, Odebert (who we knew nothing about), gray (who we knew nothing about) and the Korean winger.
We really need some pedigree players, players with top class experience and we just don't seem to be in that race. Unless there is a big incoming we don't know about it's all looking quite underwhelming.... Promising for future yes but at some point we need to stop becoming a future club and look to be a success now.
You look at utd, Chelsea in terms of improvements made, but especially West Ham and Newcastle. Top 8 could be a struggle this year.

Not very, is the simple answer.
Decent signing, I like it a lot. Some people are very down because they wanted mainly big name marquee signings, and I do get that. So much talk of Neto, Eze etc..and so I can see why some would feel underwhelmed by this. I think he looks really great and his value will probably skyrocket in the next couple of years.
But I do wonder if we haven't quite got the balance of 'building for the future vs improving us now' right. But the window is still open so we'll see.

he's a 19 year old who had 19 starts as a 17 year old in Ligue 1 and then 25 starts as a 18 year old in the Prem last season
it's a similar bet we made with Udogie Sarr and Gray in terms of going after teenagers who have played a lot of mens football
it's quite hard to assess him when he's exclusively played for teams that have gotten relegated but he's clearly very technical and a good dribbler and can play on either side
I think it's a bit underwhelming given I think we needed someone with a bit more pedigree to come on and properly displace Brennan but it's the kind of signing that has served us well recently and I think our recruitment team has earned a bit of trust
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That I understand but for every Udogie or Sarr, there's a Solomon, who this kid reminds me of.
I'm absolutely staggered at the fee because even when you play for a relegated team in the Prem, there's usually something you see on MOTD where you're like "blimey, he's a bit good" but I've never even heard of his name. Not even close. Now for 30m at 19 wouldn't you expect people to have noticed his talents already. Not one pundit has called him out for shining.
Sorry to put a dampener on things but those are the facts. There's a temptation from all fans to skew to the positive with things like this in order to make it more palatable but if you take the right marker, any average player can give you remarkable stats if you ensure your vantage point flatters them. Sky do it all the time to push the narrative pundits are outlining.
I might be proved wrong here but l can't even see a youtube clip that tells me this lad is anything other than a squad player, destined for the subs bench.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
well Solomon was what, 23 when we signed him? very different kettle of fish to signing an 18 or 19 year old. not sure you can use what is clearly a very unique transfer and situation in terms of us signing a player on a free because of a war as a worse case scenario for every transfer

Had a read through these, they seem to say that he's destined for the top but are also pleased with the fee - although that was the rumoured 37m euros + adds, not the 25m (£+ adds reported by Alli G.
So hard to say.. wish I still had my access to Wyacout to get a proper look at him.
Like others have said though in the prem last season I can't barely recall him being mentioned as a standout, so am disappointed on the whole.
this is the proper strategy for a club in our position
focus mainly on signing younger players and support them with one big proven signing each summer to ensure some short term stability
hopefully we get a defender in
Burnley fans probably think all their players are shiiit because they just got relegated
after a season in the championship they probably would have loved him, already got a goal in the first game
Still think cover for udogie and VDV is vital, those areas were a massive downgrade when Davies came in. We need Pacey, tall players with technical ability, Davies fails on all fronts! With all the extra games it must be a priority. I don't want to see Spence back there at LB!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that's the general problem. We already had a young squad but this must make us easily the youngest squad in the league. Alan Hansen was right. You can't win anything with kids. You need experience around them to develop them properly. Bringing in the likes of Gray, Bergvall and Yang meant we should have been looking at experienced marquee talents like Eze and Neto to take the headlines and let the youngsters develop without pressure. Now we're pinning our hopes entirely on them.
Why?
Because they're cheaper and THAT is why Levy wants them. Although saying that, this one isn't all that cheap so I'm not sure why we're spuffing so much on players no one outside of Turf Moor has remotely heard of.

First thought was that it smacks of "We have Olise at home"
But looking at his highlights I'm actually pretty positive about this one. Seems to be a quick and tricky both-ways touchline winger, which is exactly what the squad needs. Tons of upside, and seemingly the technical ability to play in the middle too.
Can easily see him working his way ahead of Johnson (let alone Werner) over the course of the season. High hopes for this one.

Okay, let's move on from forward hopes. I just hope Solanke does the business because I'm certainly not putting my hopes in this lad yet. That right flank feels weak to me with only Kulu and Johnson but that's that I guess.
Left back and number 6 now the priority. Maybe the saved money will see us go back in for Gallagher.
