In my eyes they are if they're played on the radio or in clubs still to this day. Nation Radio was playing Vogue just this morning when I was dropping my son off

Where would that be in your list? That is definitely a Pop song for the ages!

Nothing compares 2 U I wanted to fit in too but we just don't hear it much anymore

Limp Bizkit were pretty popular around 1999-2001. They would be very insulted if people refereed to them as a pop band. I'm sure they would accept the terminology mainstream though.

You may not like it but if you check it's stats in the music charts (worldwide) it's one of the greats.

RnB, Indie, Rock, whatever, can still be considered 'Pop'

I was hoping for top 5 at the very least.

I also like old school pop music, too. Listen to this timeless classic by Sam Cooke !

Thriller by MJ is a good shout too. Superb video, and a very well written and produced song.

Hate anything drake that mumbling twaaat does. Can’t stand that shiiit, no idea why it’s popular. Any plaudits that are aimed at him should go to his producers - the people that actually write that shiiit. He’s just an easily replaceable part of that

That's understandable. Unfortunately though that song was loved worldwide. Even I get caught singing along to it even though it's not my sort of music!

wait there a minute.

posted 4 days, 1 hour ago

Aye, lots of peoples music is. But I think if you take music out of it's genre into the more wide "pop" it is such a vast amount of music covering so many bases it would be extremely difficult to have a broad top 11.
When people say "pop" to me I think more cheesy and boy/girl band type of music that you hear on Capital FM.

I could do a top 11 of charting singles which would be very different but very difficult to narrow down.

posted 4 days, 1 hour ago

I think some are confusing 'Pop' music with a certain type of sound. In my view Pop music is the songs that are just forever played on the radio when you're in the car, have been number 1 for ages in certain countries, and are still played in clubs / bars!

I'm not too sure about bars and clubs these days but there are some songs that you can't escape when you're flicking through the radio in your car haha

1. there's no such thing as R&B
2. Jackson was The King of Pop

But what we're classing as pop is an important point. i see the OP includes BonJovi and The Killers.
