Ive not really taken any notice of pop music since the 1990s
Speaking of Nile Rodgers... Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" is another perfect pop song, imho.
Something can be pop music, hugely popular to the point of being overplayed, yet still be an amazing piece of music.
Once attended a lecture by a Professor of music on 'the art of pop music composition' and he used Peter Cetera's song 'The Glory Of Love' as an example of the 'perfect pop song' and in detail indentified and ticked the box of every element within this song that made up the perfect pop song.
I do love Dancing Queen and Yes Sire I can Boogie as pure feel good pop songs.
Frankie goes to Hollywood - Two Tribes.
Trevor Horn’s production on all those records was next level.
If I were to pick an Oasis song it would be Don't Look Back In Anger.
isnt this just the list of the most overplayed songs in history?
I think the OP was going for the songs you are likely to hear at a party/gathering/wedding type thing that 'everybody' gets up to dance to or sings along rather than music connoisseurs picks.
Man of the world, Fleetwood Mac with the wonderful Peter Green
ABBA - Fernando
Beatles - Help
Madonna - Like a Prayer
A-ha - Take On Me
Hanson - Mmmbop
John Denver - Country Roads
George Harrison - I Got My Mind Set On You
Harry Styles - As It Was
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Mungo Jerry - In the Summertime
Not the greatest but tried to think of 10 catchy pop songs I like.

As It Was is a great shout.
How about Ed Sheeran Bad Habits?
For catchy, off the top of my head,
Gold - Spandau B
Heaven is a place on earth - Belinda C
Have a nice day - S'phonics
Whole of the moon - Waterboys
John Denver - Country Roads

not pop.

Agreed.
Simply because you don't like it? Everyone has different tastes, some won't like pop at all
And it’s a pop music thread!
