There are parts of the Bowie track that I don't like, particularly the off key saxophone which sounds like it's been dropped off a tall building before recording, and the strange segue immediately after it.
And maybe I should have given that more weight.
"Absolute beginners" for me though is one of the ultimate beautiful messages.
Because ultimately at some point, we all wish we could be absolute beginners again. And this song gives it - and whatever other dream we might have as a part of that - briefly to us.
If that isn't pop music then I don't know what is.
I'm happy with the Madonna track.

Angel Eyes and Ashes to Ashes were in a play off to decide which artist got 2 in the top 10.
Could have gone either way, but the top 10 cried out for something more upbeat.

I don't think my 10 there is perfect, but some of them definitely belong there, and I'd include Crazy For You in that. It's a great track.

that Absolute Beginners could do with a remix/edit.
It's not far off at all from being an amazing track.
Still can't believe that trombone though
Kirk Whalum would be in despair.

Peter Gabriel's through to the next round (not in the above categories, for avoidance of doubt, they are already won by an American lady).
