the problem is the power structure that's been created around religion that allows people to influence others in nefarious ways. men interpreted certain religions as a means to control women.

I don’t want the UK to be a country that doesn’t tolerate religious freedoms because then what next? It’s a slippery slope and that’s the basis of my argument. What stance? I’m not a member of any church. I’m simply saying that people who post hate speech against religion would usually never dare to say it openly. They hide behind anonymity.

Ultimately I believe hating on any section of society is wrong. The comments I’ve seen on here such as the suggestion that the world would be a better place if religious people were ‘eliminated’ are shocking

I have read about how people where exploited by clever people who used the word and will of their deities Centuries ago when the general populace knew no better.People starved as they had to pay the church a tithe(10% of their income no matter what) Whilst the church got rich.Today I see no difference as to what happened centuries ago,people are still exploited,but now for different means.

Why is religious nonsense newsworthy anyway? It's like a story on the lead Dungeons and Dragons player. It's exactly the same thing.

Yes, that's because it has been brainwashed into them over generations. Video games have only been around like 40 years. Also made up fairytale religious crap was prevalent from the very top for centuries before people discovered science and education became a thing. If someone came along nowadays and told you that nonsense, you'd say they should be sectioned. Just because things have been a certain way for hundreds of years, does not mean that it is a reasonable and sensible way to be.

Just because religion has been around for thousands of years now, does not give it any sort of credibility in a modern and educated society.

I don’t want the UK to be a country that doesn’t tolerate religious freedoms because then what next? It’s a slippery slope and that’s the basis of my argument. Ultimately the point I’m making is that meeting intolerance with more intolerance never results in a good outcome. Eg - building up a hatred towards religion and people practicing religion is a slippery slope

It's not a hatred. It's more like "why the fack does this nonsense have such an impact on normal people's lives nowadays?". Most reasonable people are not intolerant of people's religious views, but rather question why this utter crap still has such a say in the modern world.

Do you agree that people are free to believe the nonsense, but it should have zero impact on other people?
