Admin1, is all that taken of Facebook likes etc coming to JA true?
SKA, it was the 4th thread on the topic already today so another reason was to try and reduce the article.
I assumed the average age of posters on here was a lot younger than it apparently is
The BBC can't win whatever they do these days. They have to make changes like that in an olympics year because there will be a massive focus on the website, and if we're honest previously it wasn't interactive enough to be classed as modern.
I personally think it's fine. How much time are you all planning on spending staring at the very top inch of the page anyway???!?!? I was under the impression that when people read webpages they tend to scroll down...
Give it a week or two and then make judgements once you've actually tried to use it.
If it helps, I think the new BBC Website looks brilliant.
To be honest, apart from the garish colour scheme, the site is fine.
Alvin, what you asking about? Facebook Likes?
Duno. Im probably talking rubbish. Are you bringing a "like" feature to JA?

We will be integrating social media to Google+, FB Like and Retweet for JA content. The feature will most probably by on by default and can be turned off via profile page.

is it just me???

In case of misuderstanding, i was suggesting that you're acting like a bunch of pensioners who forgot their reading glasses
Give me some site overhaul ideas?

Quickly, before I go home;
You need a theme of your own, this one was good to bring in the old 606 members, but now you should start to move away from that and create your own.
Where's the ajax?
Allow users to signup using their Twitter/Facebook accounts, and maybe even reply to articles/comments from Facebook/Twitter.
Them menu's on the left (with Football, Cricket, Rugby ect...). I should be able to add/remove items to that, I have never clicked on the Archery link for example.
I sent you an email about this last year some time, but I never got a reply. I was willing to help you.

I'm not sure to what extent people on here would be happy linking to their facebook profiles. Otherwise people on ja606 wouldn't use aliases. :/
I'm gonna pretend I know what that means and say well done Admin1. When will this be happening? Can't wait to have JA content intergrated with social media.
If you look at the feedback from Claire S from BBC Sports they are blatantly ignoring all the negative feedback and trying to justify everything theyve done.
They essentially take a few of the comments and dismiss them out of hand e.g. the yellow is correctly there, because it's part of BBC sports logo and was on the old site etc etc. This misses the point massively and clearly shows they wont be acting on feedback and are just going through this process to show they are listening when they're not.
Ive noticed they are blocking loads of comments under moderation rules as well, which is always a bit suspicious.

Probably because most of those ideas are poor.
I would say the new site is in my opinion overly cluttered with elements. The headline column on this http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/ page being unconventional in terms of traditional user experience to say the least. Each page requires 148 requests and has a payload of over 1 Meg. It is certainly media rich.

I have a crackberry (I know i should probably be out rioting or something) and the ja606 page is pretty heavy considering how simple it is :/
@Admin - when you say you are planning on 'monetising' the home page, you dont mean lots of banner adverts do you?
One of the reasons I chose this site over the others is because you hadnt gone down the banner advert route and I thought you were actively saying you wouldnt at the start, which personally I applauded, because all the other places seemed like they were exploiting 606 closing to make money off us, whereas you guys seemed to be doing it for more community reasons in terms of keeping things going.
I appreciate you need to pay for things like the servers and your time etc, I just hope banners aren't the way you go, because I dont want to feel like I'm being marketed to 24/7.

For JA606 it important for us to leverage the social graph and there is no requirement to link their JA accounts to face-book accounts . But exposing our content on these channels is important.
