No, lava is rather mild compared to quantum physics.

i didnt know that about the big bang Oddiy. interesting.

off the top of my head though (and not being a scientist) i cant think of anything other 'effects' that dont have a cause, so i wouldnt blame early humans any more than id blame myself for thinking that an effect will have a cause (not saying that you'd have a contrary view btw).

i take your point about brains behaving in certain ways. to me this means that we would all (or mostly) approach a problem in a logical way. to me though there is a big jump between this fact/notion, and a presumption that we would all reach almost identical independent conclusiions in relation to the questions of how we got here, and what happens to us when we die. to me, there are too many alternative solutions (such as buddism) and too many cultures which have devise too similar solutions for it to be caused by our brains approaching problems in the same way.

personally therefore, and strange as it sounds, i prefer the idea of our brains being prewired to a belief in this supreme being OR the theory of some massive happening early in human history.

JPB

It not our fault or early humans, effects that dont have a cause dont happen in the physical world as we percieve it, so our brains have no reason (and therefore have evolved in a way) to be able to take that into account

the predisposition to believe in a god and our brains reasoning that the whole cylce of rain and sun and food could be a gift from a provider or god are very similar - as its all about how the brain is "wired" - i dont know the truth mate

Brightdave, wad it you doing this fish DNA project. What is the deal with triploids, is that a chromosome incompatibility?

Cool wasn't sure if it was the fish itself. Will read associated papers "IF" hopefully I get a chance.

Been eating a lot of rod caught skipjack tuna recently and was worried about the mercury in the larger Tuna(Yellowfin).

brightdave -

do you have an opinion - or do you wish to formulate and share an opinion - as to why so many different cultures around the world (include those in remote locations) appear to have independently developed a belief that a supreme being is responsible for creation and an afterlife/next life ?
