Metro, nice video. De Grasse nails it, we all want to feel connected. Whether it's god or physics My faith is in knowledge powered by the perseverance and tenacity of man. Like De Grasse Said, I know where I come from, it was the middle of a star, not god

Fred, I don't deny anyone else their right to believe in whatever they wish, if you can prove to me why I should believe in a god then I am open to hear it but I know you can't because you'd have to impirically prove his/her/it's existence to me

and the description non-believers for those that don't believe in religion is wrong imho, I believe in lots of things as I've mentioned, I just don't need an imaginary construct of a human being to justify my beliefs

No it's not How is it childish, all the images for all of the religions for god are of a human form of some kind.

Those are the people I cannot stand and the reason why so much conflict has happened on the base of religion.
-----
I completely disagree with this, the conflict with religion is between people of different religions arguing that their religion is the correct one, this is where most people have been killed/murdered/raped etc.

Bobby

I think the people starting those wars fit into the category above.

what is it that we dont understand ? at what age would we independently formulate this god concept by ourselves ? why do all societies come to the same conclusion ? if it is a natural reaction , why is it ? what purpose doe this reaction serve ? is this reaction soemthing which evolution has developed ? did trzan believe in god ? or that boy who was brought up by wolves ? do wolves believe in god or is it only us ?
------------------------------------
There's lots of things we don't understand today. In past times there were even more. Lack of understanding causes fear and it is a natural urge to try to overcome your fears. A convenient way to overcome your fears is to 'create' a god who is more powerful than what you fear and worship him and placate him with sacrifices. We've dispensed with the sacrifices today but as someone said earlier many people today use religion as a crutch to overcome their fear of death as it gives them hope of an infinite life in paradise..

I can seee his point though bobby, because its not the rligion itself causing the cinflict but thd people who hide behind it, an idea cannot kill someone, its like the old saying guns dont kill people people do, but if we had no guns a hell of a lot of people may not be dead now.

Not at all Fred, if you need a giant magical teddy bear to hug when the challenge of life becomes too much then that's fine.

Bobby Which is why I ask out of all of the religions and gods, which one is the right one, which views on how we behave are the right views.

I hug exploding stars, they're cuddly!

Just picked parts they wanted for an argument...

People mock what they cannot understand, can't judge you for that.

I guess he's got the same faith in whatever he knows as you do in their being a god or the possibility of one.

I've not said I know anything.

I have faith not knowledge - why don't people understand that.
