shows the quality of pujara. as sehwag said this pitch is very hard to score runs in..

guys dont blame england on this pitch. this is a very hard pitch to play on. Even the mighty australians would have folded like this if they played here

Guess its goodbye to England already?

Well that was expected but still disappointing to see a series that is so hyped up has started in such one sided manner.

"Well that was expected but still disappointing to see a series that is so hyped up has started in such one sided manner."

We've never been great in the sub.c, but this and last year in the UAE is something way beyond that.

i blame england there. wat on earth did they think when they picked 3 pacers and samit patel? need 2 spinners. quality spin is gd enuf to get even indian wickets.

pace bowling even the best struggle in india

tbh hafza england havent been that bad. they atleast managed to draw a couple and that sort of thing but these days most teams are losing by big margin.

First Hazsa was Hamza and now he's a girl called Hafza?

Very poor from England. Pitch is flat but they can't cope.

with hindsight, it's hard to see how England has ended up going with patel and bresnan instead of bairstow and panesar

it makes no sense atall.

It suddenly looks like a raging turner

now unless patel bats very well his place aint justifed in the team.

Agreed Viru, they are applying the same strategy that worked at home but should have come up with a different one considering the conditions in the subcontinent. Its just too obvious to even state that they should have played Panesar.

its dead simple. when u go to england or australia u need to play pacers, same as when u come to india or subcontinent u play spinners

Ind v Eng _ I cant see England winning a 4 test series in India I`m afraid. Pakistan crushed us with one spinner (Ajmal) and I think we`re frightened out of our wits by it. All India have to do is bowl spin and we`ll fold.

India 4-0 is 16/1.. I`m thinking of having a fiver on it.

Lets look on the bright side. No sweep shots

posted on 16/11/12

Don't understand why people are having a go at Patel already? He's not even batted yet. He bowled ok and I expect him to get a 50 tomorrow.

I don't get this whole anti-sweep shot thing that seems to have developed of late.

the sweep shot is a perfectly legitimate and orthordox stroke.

posted on 16/11/12

It's not so much the shot itself but when the batsmen choose to execute it. It seems to be the shot of last resort when they're all at sea so they try and sweep everything. Doesn't help that when it goes wrong it can look almost farcical.

England batsmen have an appalling statistical record when they play the shot.

I think that the term "sweep shot" is probably used differently than it was 20,30 years ago, when it was played to a ball which was going down the leg side, and was normally a type of lap shot down to fine leg or, (more firmly) to deep backward square.

it was a relatively safe shot so I don't understand why it has become unfashionable.

It hasn't, quite the opposite. It's a shot that some England batsmen love so much that they play it to the wrong ball, or even decide to play if before the ball is bowled.
