Looking for a response after that opening day defeat at Newcastle and Rosicky slipped the ball through to Henry who finished well to put us 1-0 up against Portsmouth. Another smart assist, this time from Adebayor set up Henry for his second. Toure's poor header took it away from Lehmann and Benjani made it 2-1 but that's how it ended.
Followed that with a crazy game at Celtic. Henry's teammates made it easy for him again, van Persie setting him up to make it 1-0 before the Frenchman pinged a shot off the bar. Van Persie set up the second, plenty of time in the box to give Ljungberg an easy finish. Walcott burst away and squared for Henry to make it 3-0. Before half time we got a free kick inside the D, Henry stepped up and whipped it in Completing his hat-trick in style, it had power and a bit of spin from close(ish) range (although if Gravesen had jumped he might've stopped it).
Henry turned provider, turning the defenders inside out to give Ljungberg his second. Riordan got one back with a tap-in after some poor defending and keeping, and then he got another back with a looping volley over Lehmann, possibly off his knee. 5-2
At home to United. Van Persie struck the post early but then it went wrong. Senderos with an accidental back pass which only just went wide of the goal, and Smith headed in from Giggs' corner. A cross then found Smith, it was poor defending and somehow went down as an Eboue own goal. Van Persie headed against the bar.
We just about stayed in it, Lehmann saving from Park, Carrick heading wide and Rooney being denied. Eventually Henry went on the run and offloaded it to sub Adebayor who got one back. Baptista shot at van der Sar late on and we lost 2-1.
First Tottenham game of the season, we're at home. Gonez shoots at Boruc with their only chance. Walcott turned quickly in the box and Lee brought him down but Gilberto hit the post wit the penalty. Robinson saved his driven shot soon after. We dominated but couldn't score, Robinson made two more great saves from Adebayor and Gilberto. 0-0.
At West Ham where Green kept out Henry's header and Boruc saved from Harewood and Benayoun. Ljungberg's shot was parried into the path of Walcott who scored with his first touch. West Ham kept at it and eventually a great move saw Bowyer make it 1-1.
At home to Blackburn, it looked like the breakthrough wouldn't come. Baptista couldn't hit the target, Boruc had to save from McCarthy. We finally scored with a ridiculous goal, head tennis. Gilberto, Adebayor and Ljungberg flicked it on to Henry who nodded in from five yards. Adebayor set up Baptista for 2-0 and Ljungberg found Henry for 3-0.
Struggled against Liverpool with Henry on international duty. Van Persie and Baptista came closest, Dudek kept it at 0-0.
Away at Wigan and although Hleb's shot was brilliantly blocked on the line by Jackson, Boyce slid in late and was shown a red. Baptista scored the penalty and van Persie hit the bar before scoring soon afterwards. Camara got one back in the second half, van Persie and Adebayor came close. Late on Adebayor hit the bar and finally Hleb got through on his own but finished nicely, 3-1.

Barca, Valencia and Liverpool in our CL group. Nice. Still not entirely sure of the format, but the top two go through.
Valencia visit us first. Canizares made a great save from Henry and Morientes. Henry nearly bags his second free kick of the season but Canizares saves brilliantly. 0-0.
Morientes nearly scored, that is.
Away to Charlton next. Myhre saved well from Adebayor but Ljungberg put us ahead in the second half. We were comfortable but Hleb gave away a penalty, scored by Darren Bent. Bent nearly put them ahead but Boruc saved well. Myhre made late saves from Walcott and Adebayor. Two points dropped.
Away at Barca where Flamini shot wide, Boruc saved from Saviola and Valdes kept out Hleb's header. Puyol brought down Henry who scored from the spot and quick passing saw Flamini set up Henry to score another. Boruc kept out and Messi and we held on to a great 2-0 win.

Then in the cup where Baptista scored after some pinball in the box and then got a second, firing in Flamini's header. Walcott made it 3-0 and we could've scored more, but Lehmann's save from Maccarone allowed Yakubu to pull one back. 4-1 on aggregate.
Demolished Chelsea. Fabregas' cross was cut out but Rosicky reacted to give us the lead. Carvalho fouled Hleb and Henry scored from the spot. Despite going to 3-3-4 Chelsea were terrible in attack and Ljungberg avoided about 4 challenges in 2 seconds to wrap it up from a corner. 3-0.
Unfortunately Rosicky picked up an injury in the last game. We coped well without him against Liverpool in the CL. Bellamy fired over, Reina saved from Henry. Then Henry found van Persie who fired in the winner. 1-0.
Lack of chances against Everton in the league. Walcott coming close, Henry setting up Ljungberg for the only goal, 1-0. Ljungberg joins Rosicky on the injury list.
Away at Valencia and Baptista got the winner, holding onto the ball from a corner and firing into the roof of the net. Canizares kept Adebayor from adding to the 1-0 scoreline.
Against Bolton in the league van Persie opens the scoring in the second half. Moutinho and Denilson nearly added more, but it's a fourth 1-0 in a row.
That's halfway in the season and although we're doing well United have 41 points and are still unbeaten compared to Chelsea's 32 in second and our 31 in third.
Away at Charlton in the first leg of the cup quarters. After Lehmann saved from Hasselbaink, Gilberto set up Henry to score the first. Charlton weren't bad but Adebayor's unselfish pass allowed Flamini to make it 2-0.
Might have gone a bit over the top in the January window. Brought in Farfan and Park Chu-Young (duh). Still got plenty of money but now have a ridiculous number of attackers.
Familiar faces were the biggest threats against Newcastle though. Owen wasted their best chance, Given saved well from van Persie and had to be alert to keep out Henry twice, including a curling free kick from range. 0-0.
Second leg against Charlton. Farfan and Gilberto came close, and Park set up summer signing Moutinho for his first Arsenal goal. Moutinho nearly added another, before Adebayor did late on. There was still time for Baptista to head against the bar, Adebayor to pick up the loose ball and square to give Park his first Arsenal goal. 5-0 on aggregate.
Away at Portsmouth and Brighi headed them into the lead. Lualua was kept out by Lehmann and Henry equalised. Ljungberg nearly won it for us but James saved and Toure brought down Lualua through on goal and was sent off. 1-1.
At home to Barca. Lehmann and Valdes saved from Eto'o and van Persie, Rosicky curled a shot over and Messi headed wide. Lehmann saved from Gudjohnsen in the second half and the 0-0 ensures our progression with a game to spare.
Then it's Celtic in the league. Almunia was in goal for Celtic and he kept out Ljungberg and Henry. Boruc made saves from Jarosik and Miller and Fabregas wasted a header. Henry's initial shot looped up and Almunia was caught in no man's land, Henry headed in the loose ball. He redeemed himself with a great save from Farfan and more poor keeping, this time from Boruc allowed Miller to somehow grab them a late equaliser. 1-1.
Liverpool in the final CL group game. Curci made a good save from Kuyt but it fell back to him to score second time. Park had the chance for a tap-in but flicked a backheel wide Reina made a good stop from Walcott and Garcia had a shot saved by Curci as it ended 1-0.
5 of the next 10 games are against United, got them in the league, twice in the cup semi-final and twice in the CL quarter final
How they're top of the league, I don't know. Henry set up Rosicky for the opener, then scored one of his own. Adebayor beat Ferdinand and chipped in a third. Smith couldn't take advantage of their best chances and Adebayor set up Fabregas to make it 4-0. Farfan and Ljungberg could've had four between them late on but it stayed 4-0. Just the 10 points behind them now
At Old Trafford again, but not quite 4-0 in the cup. Park scored, but it was the wrong Park as Ji-Sung headed in Giggs' cross. He nearly scored a second but Boruc saved. Henry sprinted away then shimmied past van der Sar to equalise. Henry, Fabregas and van Persie all could've won it for us and Ronaldo nearly scored for them at the end. 1-1, good result for the second leg.
Away at Spurs, van Persie beat a defender and fired in the opening goal. Robinson was in form, keeping out van Persie and Rosicky. We dominated but Mido was played in and equalised with their only good chance. There was still time for Robinson to make another great save from Fabregas and we dropped two points, 1-1.
First leg of the Champions League time at home to United. Henry fired over and had a shot saved by Hildebrand before Ronaldo set up Richardson to put United 1-0 up. Hildebrand made two more stops from Henry but couldn't keep out van Persie's low shot. In the second half Gilberto sent Henry through and he chipped us ahead. Hildebrand was busy again, keeping out Henry and Fabregas, but he couldn't take the ball off van Persie who made it 3-1. With the last attack of the game Park set up Smith to pull one back, 3-2 going into the second leg.
West Ham in the league first. Carroll saved from van Persie and Park's header hit the bar. Cole forced a save from Curci but Park put us in front. Curci saved Newton's header, Henry and Baptista nearly added to the scoreline before Park did, playing a 1-2 with Baptista and finishing. Hleb's run on the counter set up Baptista to make it 3-0 and Hleb nearly scored one himself.
Second leg against United. Hleb flicked a header off the bar, then Fabregas dinked the ball through to Henry who controlled with his head and tucked the ball under Hildebrand. The keeper prevented Henry from making it 2-0, then Park found himself in space to score for United. Hildebrand saved again from Henry but late on Rosicky carried it forward and laid it off to Henry to spin the ball into the corner. Minutes later Henry kept the ball despite Evra's challenge and hammered in a shot off the post to complete his hat-trick. Park collected Fletcher's pass and cut the deficit but it ended 3-2 again, 6-4 on aggregate.
Two away games in a row, firstly Blackburn. Park got past the defenders and scored, Clichy set up Park for his second and Rosicky got past some poor defending to make it 3-0 within 16 minutes. Friedel saved van Persie's free kick but in the second half Park stretched to put in Fabregas' pass for his hat-trick, 4-0.
Then to Liverpool where Reina saved Henry's header well, but the ball found its way to Fabregas who gave it to Ljungberg to send it flying into the far corner. Curci saved from Bellamy and Reina made a double save from Ljungberg and Hleb. 1-0.
