MANAGEMENT DECISION

Lukaku's presence creates a lot of opportunities for himself and others. You wouldn't do as well as you have with Jelavic leading the line for example.

Martinez' record at Wigan is fantastic - remember success has to be defined differently for different clubs.

Keeping a poor side in the top flight can be as good an achievement for a manager as winning the league with a good side. Martinez kept Wigan up on more than one occasion - and he actually won a trophy. How many other current managers have done that?

As for him turning down Liverpool and opting for Everton - it could be something as simple as choosing the owner rather than choosing the club. Liverpool have been through a number of managers whilst Everton had a decade of Moyes - that may well have appealed to Martinez who valued his personal relationship with Whelan.

Despite what some on here claim nobody on this forum knows if Martinez was even offered the LFC job. All we know is he was interviewed, but did not actually get it.

Martinez says he was offered it and so too does soft lad Whelan. Quite possibly Martinez is making this claim to save face, and as LFC got the Manager they wanted they are happy to let him say what he wants because they don’t give a ****.

My best guess is that they considered offering Martinez the post, but then Rodgers (the preferred choice) made himself available and we know the rest.

But whatever the unknown truth of the matter – so what?

As many have stated both LFC and EFC are doing well and happy with their current managers.

What reasons did Brendan give for the about turn?that didn't happen I am afraid. You ended up with your second choice. If Roberto had said yes instead of no Rogers would have been out of the picture. Arouna,I am intigued.Return from what?

SOooo you interview your second choice first?

Unfortunately your opinion is exactly that – opinion, not evidence.

Show me where LFC confirm Martinez claims. Until they do then its just claims.

Fully agree, nobody will ever know. I am happy with Bobby and Liverpool fans are happy with Rodgers

I was actually offered the job before either of them. There, I said it. I never wanted to make it public but you forced me.

Didn't want to move back to the UK!

No it doesn't. His entire time at Everton suggests I am right.

No....I AM SPARTICUS!!! I WAS OFFERED THE JOB.

I am sure Rodgers was sounded out first before Bobby. How that means he was our second choice I don't get but Everton fans will of course force the issue just to get a scrap to wind us up with.

John Henry has stated Martinez was not offered the job. The only person spouting this nonsense was Dave Whelan!

Roberto *Dave Whelans Voice* was interviewed just like you would interview many candidates for a single role.

Roberto *Dave Whelans Voice* was so giddy with excitement over the prospect of managing Liverpool that he left poor old Dave Whelan in limbo - to the extent that Dave had to call Sky Sports news continuously - akin to an old man reporting a lost cat.

A few weeks flew by and after assessing all their options - FSG made their choice in Brendan Rodgers, the right choice.

Little Roberto returned home to his senile dad and they sat their silently, pretending like none of this had ever happened. Everyone knew from there on out that relationship had been fractured and Roberto *Dave Whelans Voice* knew he had to leave at the next opportunity, where he went was irrelevant.

BR was approached before Martinez (but then he rejected it at first and owners started looking at alternatives). Martinez was probably the second choice in case we were unable to get BR.

You must be the son of Dave Whelan.

What I suspect happened is that we approached Rodgers with a DOF deal, which he rejected.

We did the same to Martinez, and he either rejected it, or we decided we really wanted Rodgers so softened our stance on the DOF.
