Gibson over Allen.

posted on 9/1/14

Given that he cost Chelsea £18m and he has become much better since then, I'd say he'd now be valued at £20-30m

How do you get to that conclusion? Run down contract, obviously unhappy with his chances at the club, bot played by manager

His Valur keeps going up and up and up!

I'd take Gibson over Allen any day of the week.

as in joe allen "the general"??? god almighty

Behave, they are both very good players for club and country. BBB is just sad because of his heritage(Gibson)

Gerrard has been good for his country? You mustn't watch England very much, and what part of PAST IT did you not understand?

Chelsea would be stupid to let him run down his contract. If he doesn't go back to Chelsea next season then they will look to sell. He signed a 5 year contract in August 2011, so they've got over 2 and half years left on that contract. Although he hasn't played for Chelsea much, he's been on loan and done very well. 17 goals at West Brom, 9 goals so far at Everton, proves he is a very good Premier League striker. I would be very very surpirsed if he is sold for any less than £20m.

Suarez went to Liverpool for £22m-ish.

Would you put him in the same bracket as Suarez when he first arrived?

Not having a good couple of days OP.

We got Suarez very cheap in my opinion. Perhaps that was because of his history of bad behaviour.

Do you actually believeLukaku is not worth £20m plus in this market or are you just being a little facetious and argumentative?

If Everton want to buy Lukaku next season, it will cost you £20m plus, whether or not you believe he is worth it. Chelsea will look to profit on one of the hottest prospects in European football. And if you can't afford it, he'll go elsewhere.

You have to question your judgement on what makes a player one of the "hottest prospects" in Europe spend time at WBA and Everton and not getting game time with his parent club who's strikers are not hitting the back of the net.

You mention his goal return for Everton, I believe in the league it is more than the combined total of three Chelsea strikers?

£20m?

Imo this is an unneeded wum. Rodgers has surprised me and Liverpool are doing well under his stewardship. Martinez had adapted quicker than Rodgers did to his new role but both play good attractive football the right way, let's just hope the good old days can return with the two at the top and regularly challenging for honours.

Didn't notice that gramatical error!

Worse than his "no Everton players have ever won a trophy for Everton" gaff!

That's more Mourinho's mistake than a question of Lukaku's talent

And the previous season where goals were at a premium from strikers?

posted on 9/1/14

I've not read all the replies but you've got to mental to think that Lakaku would not cost many millions this summer. He is a recognised International striker who will only get better. Pace, strength, an eye for goal coupled with a seemingly good attitude and over 2 years left on his contract who can play up top on his own which is much needed in the modern game. His strike rate is good where ever he has been and he is still only 20.

Just as a footnote it's another really poorly thought out article.

With regards to Suarez has a player ever been transfered from Holland to a major league for more than £22m? I've not checked but there cannot be many if any.

Yet you still felt obliged to comment Robbing?

posted on 9/1/14

You don't know the meaning of obliged, obviously, but I certainly did not feel morally or legally bound to comment. Moreover my comment was not actually in relation to the OP, but rather the conversation that had originated from it some 100 comments later, so yet again your point is moot as well as wholly inaccurate.

You're not very good at this are you.

Fully agree with you Robbing....

Regarding Lukaku however I dont. That is two top class managers who have had strikers misfiring yet STILL send this guy out on loan?

posted on 9/1/14

Adding to this also at 20 he is going to the WC, he could possibly sit out the remaining two seasons on his contract at Chelsea/look for a loan away and then get a free contract.

Chelsea can do all they want to try and sell him. But if a player doesn't want to move......they can't be forced to

posted on 9/1/14

I would be very happy if lakaku cost less than £20mill as that would give us more of a chance of affording him. But intodays market I would be very surprised if he cost less

posted on 9/1/14

free contract = free transfer

posted on 9/1/14

Yeah, fair do's, but I certainly cannot see him going for less than say £15m and with Chelsea making statements about FFP they may play hardball a bit. Potentially a superb player though.

The situation is odd though. I'd say most people would say he is worth that much. Better than Benteke IMO.
