I'm sure the Liverpool fans in this thread could have a great argument about Arsenal without us - half of them a slating the club for the same thing the other half are praising it for.

Henryscat, the same as the WOBs and the AKBs..

What is great for us Liverpool fans is the team have come a long way in a short space of time.

Need to keep that pedal pushed to the floor for the remaining games.

Really want us to get back into the champions league.

Better the devil you know, look at Man Utd. No one predicted they'd be where they are now.

We could argue the same thing though really. We are a ridiculous number of points better off than we were at this stage last season.

Arsenal + Liverpool - Making Progress

So in that case the teams in the Europa League shouldn't beat you?

So, that means the lower tier clubs like Swansea, Birmingham City, Stoke, Newcastle...these teams. Really? Wenger's been performing miracles to keep ahead of these?

Teams that have spent more? Honestly. If you take the spending of Chelsea & City into context, they spent a huge amount to achieve title success. Arsenal had the base of been title winners in 2004. So in that context Spurs, Everton and Liverpool should of all spent £600+ million to finish ahead of Arsenal

Your talk of spending does not include wages. Arsenal have had a CL wage bill since the 90's. In some years recently probably £40/50 million a year more than Spurs and god knows how much more than Everton

So the only true competitor would be Liverpool? A team who came within hours of been owned by RBS. A team who has won trophies and genuinely challenged since Arsenal last won a pot.

Miracle worker that Arsene

Surely you must be confident of getting at least 4th place now?

So called AKBs and WOBs are both losers.

So....Arsenal would be better without Wenger?

I should pay more attention to usernames as i'm getting very confused as to whether Wenger is our advantage because of his stability or whether he's holding us back

Yes...no other manager has been indulged so mindlessly and made so many excuses

SAF has in recent years made Arsene's & clubs excuses look ridiculous

So Liverpool have consistently finished behind a club with a useless manager?

Sounds pretty embarrassing.

posted on 17/2/14

The advantage of stability is that it gives a club time to grow it's own players that are good enough to win trophies

I know Ashley Cole has won a few trophies as have many of the players that have been allowed to leave Arsenal

Wenger has failed to create a structure that has brought enough talent through to Arsenal's first team to become winners at the club. Instead he talks about 'financial doping' & makes excuses

It's a nonsense...

United rebuilt much of their stadium and now have 75,000. During this period they developed young players who came into the team and won. They were relentless, trophy after trophy.

Are you telling me Arsenal couldn't of created that?

The last four years yes as we nearly went bust. The four years before that we finished above you in 06, 07 and 09.

Arsenal fans have actually convinced themselves that a victory for their shareholders is a victory for themselves

So the financial excuse is invalid?

So you have no right to use Gillet/Hicks as an excuse for Liverpool's demise?

Either financial factors are valid excuses or they are not....which is it to be?

There is a difference between going bust and stock piling money.

posted on 17/2/14

Yep, that's exactly why Liverpool have changed manager several times and restructured the club completely....the last few years since 2010 haven't been good enough.

We've not made excuses....we've made changes. Not always for the better but we seem to have finally found a pathway.

Arsenal....looks like more of the same since 2004 this season. No changes. The stadium is a smokescreen and ready made excuse

There is also a difference between spending 100s of millions of £s of sugar daddy money compared to spending self-generated money.

So.......we have a valid excuse when saying we've been unable to compete with City and Chelsea's spending power?
