I do agree it’s been a disappointing window. I really thought we’d strengthen at CB and possible upgrade on Tsimi as well. Perhaps with Gomez staying the club thought we’d be ok on the 4 CB options, but we’re reliant on Konate staying fit and available, something he’s not consistently been so far.

DM is most disappointing. I understand and appreciate the argument for not settling or buying for the sake of it but I simply don’t believe that Zubi is a unicorn - there must be others close to his skill set. No plan b for an area we’ve struggled in for years is difficult to understand. That said, Gravs has started well so perhaps I’m overstating the problem in my head.

I think the business we did do was good. Forward thinking in one and opportunistic in the other.

I do wish we’d sort Trent’s contract. VVD and especially Salah I fear they may have already decided to move on irrespective so I’m not going to through too much shade at the club for what may well be player choice.

So yeah, poor window but I’m nowhere near FSG out. I think that’s daft for many reasons.

Think people are prob being harsh on the ratings of the window. Still think it was a quarter of a window if that since Slot wanted to assess the squad and most of it only came back for the last few weeks of the window.

Also its clear we want a specific type or player in midfield zubimendi type, else we’d have surely taken andre for 20m or ugarte for 40? Outside of that hs anyone signed anyone we really feel we’ve missed out on? Aka been available to sign? Within budget and wage structure?

I don't really care what other teams have done. Hughes and the club have failed to address the squads weaknesses for this window bar a utility forward (Chiesa), who can provide cover for Salah on the RW

The situation at CB is ridiculous tbh. We have 4 senior players, having sold van den Berg and loaning out Phillips. A couple of injuries here and we are down to untried children. Every game Konate plays fans will be watching through their fingers No excuses can be offered that any sensible fan can find palatable. It's ludicrous.

All the while the club has said nothing to the fans. Total silence other than a few leaked messages via the usual journo's.

This window has been a disaster. Hands up those of you who would have been happy with this at the start of the transfer window?

Its not about caring what other teams have done is it. Its about naming these players that were clearly available withing budget and salary etc fit the model and profile slot wants that theyve signed for positions everyones adamant we needed strengthening.

We should be caring what City and Arsenal have done and they have had a much better window than us.

i dont think theres a cb thats been signed by another club that we'd want for the price and salary etc. Esp when we probably need a lcb thats comfortable def out wide, ideally. But again no1 here knows what Slot wants yet.

The counter arguement iof course is the club are being cheap.

Problem is that whereas all this rationale and reasonings make sense, that's not really the parameters by which I judge the club fundamentally. I don't see transfer windows as something that can be assessed as a failure or success so acutely. There's many things I might not be comfortable or in congruence with but ultimately, it's the long term strategy that brings success, and that's what matters. Winning the transfer window cup seems more important to some people than actual trophies at the end of the season.

Failing to make signings this summer could be part of that long term plan IMO because we've just changed the everything from manager to transfer committee, and perhaps they have a plan which doesn't involve spending big two seconds after walking through the door. Or maybe they're just stoopid and don't know what there doing. Or maybe FSG want to asset strop and sell the club. Who knows.

The question you need to ask yourself is with the window bringing a tidy profit and with a sizable wage reduction, why the cub have utterly failed to address squad improvements required, because as it stands your answer is unicorns.
