My point being even Guardiola gets transfers wrong.

I doubt Gundo will start that many games tbh but as a squad player he has bags of experience, knows the club and knows exactly what Pep wants. And if it gets to the sharp end of the season and you need a player to be calm and lead, he’s there. I hate this term but it’s about as close to a no-brainer as you get.

Aside from Gundo, they’ve effectively just swapped Savio for Alvarez in the squad. I’ve not seen Savio yet so have no idea whether that’s an upgrade or not.

Varela has similar attributes to Zubimendi in possession and would have improved our first team. He has experience playing as the single pivot at Boca. There are other options who are much better than we have like Stiller and Pepelu.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if we’re active in the Jan window. Gives Slot a bit more time to assess what he’s got and determine who doesn’t have a future and where he wants more. We know DM is one area but there may be others.
