Murder can be achieved without terrorising people. Terrorists main goal is not to just kill but keep you in a constant state of fear which will lead you to curtail liberty.
For example the patriot act in the us and the spying that goes on.
I have no issue with the govt cracking down on extremists, the point being the main focus appears to be the Islamic extremists even when they are not the main perpetrators of terrorism in the EU.

The US for example has shifted its focus to right wing groups as the FBI consider them the most persistent threat to the country.
We should not be naive and not monitor terror from the ME but facts should enforce decision making not hysteria

I can think of the 77 attacks and the soldier. In that same time policemen have been killed in the UK by right wingers and in the North. We also had the bomber who was stopped by the police, the polish guy who bombed mosques as well.

Not sure what sort of answer this is tbh.However I think it's fair for us to look at the UK.I expect the security services will devote a lot of their time looking at extreme muslim terror suspects because of past events and continuing threats.They will also be looking at extreme right wing groups who could potentially target muslims here.The first duty of any government is the safety of it's people.

I agree wholeheartedly, the article is to deal primarily with perception influenced by the media.
It is the same with immigration and foreigners. What it does is make us more insular and trusting of ourselves and developing the them and us mentality which breeds intolerance which sends us down the slippery slope of no return.

As a question (apologies if it's already been asked), do you have any figures on death tolls according to the type of attack? I'd expect perception and press coverage to be heavily influenced by how lethal the attacks are, so both might be partly explained if fundamentalist terrorism statistically cause a greater number of victims. Other factors might include the actual and location of the attack - for example, a beheading on the high street of a London neighbourhood would understandably attract more attention than a man shot inside his home somewhere in rural Kosovo.
