You control a people by keeping them in fear.
You think the terror alert will ever go down to green or blue?
Nah....it's just to remind you, if you forgot, that you are supposed to be scared of the latest enemy we've told you about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A bit like when ISIS behead people and film it,a bit like ISIS entering villages and town killing 100's of people to spread fear throughout the region.
That is controlling people with fear and in the process killing thousands.
BTW in the figures regarding the 2%,can you put in the figures about attacks tfrom islamists hat have been thwarted by the security services over that period
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You mean ISIS that were armed by America when they weren't the enemy?
Didn't really hear too much about them.
Now they're not doing Yanks bidding, they're the enemy, and oh look, let's give them all this coverage.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No this is the ISIS that is being funded by both the Saudi and Qatari royal families at present
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And a lot of IS wealth was also created when they captured Mosul.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They get something like a million a day from the oil they've looted.
Jesus christ some of you need to give all these non sporting debates a rest on here

Both sides of the debate on this are just as bad as the other. You can't criticise western media and the danger and perception it is guilty of creating whilst also quoting from an Internet source that doesn't even define the context it has used.
It is the same in the charlie hebdo thread where I'm increasingly convinced those offended by it (and some defending it) have never even read the magazine itself and are instead copying the opinion of bloggers and frantically searching google to find an image to be outraged about for all the wrong and stupid reasons.
It's why debates like this should not be had on a football forum and need to stop.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry melts but I do not believe I am wrong here
I said yesterday, I have not even seen the hebdo cartoons, nor did I go looking for them. I hadn't even heard of it until these attorcities.
I just get so bored and angry with people who say ' yes, I condemn these murders but'
There is no but. This is cold blooded murder. Justifying it even in the slightest way is horrendous.
Take the article. Muslim extremism accounts for 2 percent of terrorism in this country. Not only do I believe that us skewed in terms or what terrorism is. Semantics if you will. But also I don't care if it's only 1 percent. It's still a threat. A very dangerous threat. And articles like this play down that threat.
Of course the media sensationalise it. They think about their bottom line. Berating Islam is trendy. But I said yesterday that the Muslim society should fight back and show the world the ignorant are wrong. Not because of need but because of wanting to right a wrong.
I honestly believe it would do so much good

Very interesting and revealing MUDD. Even though I do try to keep informed through independent news sources, I'd have never imagined the rate was so low.
As a question (apologies if it's already been asked), do you have any figures on death tolls according to the type of attack? I'd expect perception and press coverage to be heavily influenced by how lethal the attacks are, so both might be partly explained if fundamentalist terrorism statistically cause a greater number of victims. Other factors might include the actual and location of the attack - for example, a beheading on the high street of a London neighbourhood would understandably attract more attention than a man shot inside his home somewhere in rural Kosovo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with that view, even in the article they note that extreme radical islam attacks seek to kill as many people as possible.
Like I said, the goal of these lunatics (terrorists) is not just to kill but to keep us scared and terrified. I remember after 9/11 few people wanted to get on planes and was even on a plane when someone did not want to sit close to a sikh who he thought was an A-rab.
The point I am making and I have made here and the article attempts to do is present facts. This tactic does not apply to just terrorism but other discussions.

We live in a world today where a lot of propaganda is trotted around in the name of "news." I am not asking anyone to take anything lightly but be aware there is a bias which is not in our national interest but an ideology that is very dangerous and truth be told has a lot more in common with radical islam although both will disagree

Reported 14th Nov 2014 and is just Britain alone
Theresa May has revealed that 40 terror plots have been foiled by British security services since the 7/7 bombings in 2005, as she unveiled a new counter-terrorism bill.
The foiled plots include a planned Mumbai-style gun attack, the planned murder of members of the armed forces, an attempt to bring down a plane, and an attempt to assassinate an ambassador.
The Home Secretary told a counter terrorism event in London that since April 2010, 753 people have been arrested on terrorism-related offences, while 212 people have been charged and 148 have been successfully prosecuted.
Which is excellent and a tribute to our security forces. How many of those were driven by religion and how many of those were separatists?

I don't think the SNP have the capability or the extremist element to plan and execute terrorist separatist attacks in the UK.
What separatists do you mean?
