Ron is a United fan??? I just assumed he was a Chelsea supporter for some reason. Anyways, well put again Redmisty.

Don't think he's a United fan.

The docs were sent to United to sign at 11.53 Spanish time - according to the official statement from Real Madrid. By my calculations United were given 7 minutes to return the paperwork. No idea how you managed to turn this into 8 hours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hmmm, not very bright are you.
4.- Real Madrid and Manchester United quickly reached an agreement for the transfers of both players. Following the drawing up of the relevant contractual documentation required, and with the purpose of proceeding with enough time to process both FIFA's Transfer Matching System (TMS) and the registration with the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, Real Madrid sent Manchester United the contracts at 13.39 Spanish time.
5.- Manchester United sent their remarks regarding the aforementioned contracts eight hours later, at 21.43 Spanish time, including minor modifications. As these modifications were not significant, they were all accepted immediately by Real Madrid, with the intention being able to register the player on time both via TMS and with the Liga de Fútbol Profesional.
The documents were sent to United at 13:39 Spanish time and United fecked around for 8 hours before sending the documents back (with a few minor changes) at 21:43 Spanish time.
So 21:43 - 13:39 = 8:04 or 8 hours and 4 minutes. But yeah, by all means ignore this small snippet of information so it doesn't look like United were at fault for scuppering DDG's chance to be with his fiancé.
I'm not plucking them out of my bottom and I'm afraid you do need credibility if you are going to criticism reasonably.
But hey, Utd always wanting £22m and a back up keeper for their twice player of the year is truly hilarious so I'm willing to go with that like you are.
Hmmm, not very bright are you.

No he isn't... don't judge all united fans by his standards, some of us do see things from both sides.

So much point scoring on here all the time and asking people to show quotes and videos and proof of this quote and that. It's just a poxy football forum for people to spout their opinions and try and prove they're more knowledgeable than others.
We actually don't really know who is to blame for the admin cockups but the evidence points to Madrid overall as they have agreed terms months ago with De Gea (Isn't that tapping up?) but never put a bid in.
They have money but were trying to exert pressure to get him on the cheap. No sympathy whatsoever whoever is to blame. Even de Gea can sit there for a season and then get £10m signing on fee !! It's a tough life !

Looney, where did you get quotes that we contacted them to make the trade?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was on Sky Sports which I have on all day as thats all I am doing !
-----
Fair call. Just seems utterly incredulous to believe we would approach Madrid to sell one of our best players with 1 day remaining to get a replacement. It would be utter madness. What if Navas wouldn't join us?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep agree But I guess it was dependent on naves coming the other way and he was apparently not so sure. As has been speculated much before LVG asked about Navas last summer and that's the reason DDG didn't sign an extension. This is comes from the De tea camp though so who knows.
I'm not plucking them out of my bottom

You just admited to not knowing what United valued DDG at. So a nus plucking it was.

5) Why do people keep saying that we have left ourselves with an unhappy player unless we accept that DDG had his heart set on leaving? And why would he have his heart set on leaving if he had not even spoken to Madrid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could it be that he wanted to go and live in Madrid with his fiancé. She and her family are from Madrid after all.
No, DDG couldn't possibly get upset about living away from his fiancé for at least another 8 months.

Let me try and put this in perspective.
Sterling
That is how to carrry out a transfer during a long window. City wanted him, coughed up the money. Everyone happy and Liverpool have ample time to get a replacement.
DDG
Not how to do transfer buisness. No need what so ever to leave it until the lst day.
As far as I can tell the layman's equivalent of RMs statement is:
1.- United agreed to open negotiations in the morning.
2.- Real Madrid agree to have these talks.
3.- United demand Navas be part of the deal and tell RM they are in contact with Navas' representatives.
4.- Real Madrid and Manchester United reached an agreement for the transfers of both players at 13.39 Spanish time.
5.- At 21:43 (8 hrs later), United send minorly amended contracts to RM. RM accept immediately.
6.- RM obtained signatures of both De Gea and Navas, and send to United at 23:32. (opinion, the DDG is done now all that remains is Navas's)
7.- United reach final agreement with Navas at 23:53
8.- Manchester United entered the details of the David de Gea deal, not those of Keylor Navas, at 00:00 Spanish time.
You can accuse me of being biased or anti-United all you want, but it looks, based on the statement and assuming it's right, that United had about half an hour to key DDGs transfer into the system after sitting on the contracts for most of the day.
How can you fook that up?
You just admited to not knowing what United valued DDG at. So a nus plucking it was.
=================
No I didn't. I said I'd be surprised if Utd would have targetted £22m and a £5m back up keeper for their twice player of the year.
But you're right apparently. That is all they valued him at. Apparently.

Yeah wasn't talking about you.
For all we know some geezer or gal at the club got torn a new one for messing things up.
It could be that simple.

Remember when Everton forgot to renew Gosling so he went on a free? Quality.
Poor DDG and what about his misses anyone consider how she is going to feel???
What would they have been asking for then?
Bare in mind he's got a year left on his contract and that Buffon is the only keeper in history that has gone for more than £20m.

See, you can see where it all fell down.
Last day of the window.
Le Tissier reckons that Real Madrid got cold feet as Navas as done well so far this season and that they did it deliberately and looking to blame others. Interesting thought.

Beggars belief I know but s.heitT happens. Not on the same scale but I remember one of the lasses working for me a few years ago came to me and told me she had sent an email to a senior manager calling him a dik.head.
Basically no one liked the guy and he had sent her something that annoyed her so she typed in you're a dik.head meaning to delete it but pressed send the dozy mare.
I remember arßsing around with my dissertation day before it needed handing in and deleting the thing and having to stay up retyping the thing
