It seems to me that:
1. RM want to buy a United player, United don't want to sell
2. United set a valuation for de Gea and name a player they want included in the deal
3. RM offer well below the valuation and say no to selling Ramos
4. On the last day of the window RM offer something close to United valuation and offer their cast off gk as part of the deal and then expect United officials to jump when they say
After all that they now try to blame United. Surely it should be RM doing all the running?
I also think United should insert a buyout clause in all player contracts adding that the figure will be double for RM
Utd got a lot of business done in this window without any complaints.
The one bit of business that it seems real had to do is facked up and its supposed to be utds fault.
Utd did everything right by the lad while protecting their own interests. Van gaal took him out of the team and out of the spotlight.
Mudd, because they'd obviously we rather stick with the Argentine Mignolet.

5) Why do people keep saying that we have left ourselves with an unhappy player unless we accept that DDG had his heart set on leaving? And why would he have his heart set on leaving if he had not even spoken to Madrid?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could it be that he wanted to go and live in Madrid with his fiancé. She and her family are from Madrid after all.
No, DDG couldn't possibly get upset about living away from his fiancé for at least another 8 months.

Poor DDG and what about his misses anyone consider how she is going to feel???
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What's poor about him
It should be a wake up call for him as too what real are all about.
He needs to get his head together and get back playing for utd and spain
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He has been denied his dream move, he's now trapped in a world of pain he was promised a way out of, let down by the club he has represented so well for several seasons.
I'm still astonished they're piping up after the hiding West Ham gave them on Saturday. It was the first time in 50 years they lost at home with a result like that. Moyesesque stat or what? And Jlou thinks they're in the battle for 4th

Of course we wanted him to go to Madrid, the lads like a combination of Buffon, Neo from the Matrix and Jesus.
Stevie got his dream move to LA, Scientology next.
Real Madrid let him down.
Nah Darren it clearly doesn't suit my agenda to think Madrid let him down, poor Dave.

Well hang on. It clearly says that Utd did not open negotiations until yesterday morning.
Now I'm guessing here but I suspect that is because they were ridiculously trying to get Ramos in the deal.
Utd finally buckled cos they were worrying about losing umpteen millions so negotiated a deal in three hours for a cash plus player deal.
They then took eight hours to return the paperwork!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're hilarious.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hilarious but correct. I thought the same thing. Negotiations only opened yesterday morning. According to RM though, mind

It's an awful mess but if I was a united fan I'd be delighted, you don't need cash, you get to keep one of the worlds top keepers, a player who was a massive part of you getting back to the CL this year.
Also DDG comes accross as a very well grounded fella, seems like a total pro, with the Euro's coming up it's in his own interest to play and play well, yeah you will most likely loose him next summer but he could be the difference this season between top 4 and maybe a cup win and finishing 5th and not winning a cup.
Plus this gives you a year to scout and sign a proper replacement for him.
They could complete the transfer in January.

Its up to De gea now how he handles this. Its in his interest to get back playing asap
Yeah that's true Darren but even a few more more months of him in goal could make a huge difference to you, he really is that good.

Would not bet against LVG and Woodward taking a hardline stance and insisting DDG signs a new contract if he wants to get back in the team. I'd certainly prefer him to commit to United before he plays again.
can you actually make a player rot in the reserves for not signing a contract
I know some of us said it about Sterling and Suarez.
But wouldn't/couldn't that be seen as blackmail or breach of contract somehow?
JUst curious as it gets said whenever a good player wants to leave a club.

I can remember quite a few years ago there was some sort of employment rule that could have been exercised and it was something like if a player was included in less 10% of his sides games, he could be entitled to a free transfer. Can't remember the player, but it was a similar situation.
Tbh, I think there is a FIFA rule active now (Webster ruling?) that would enable DDG to simply buy out the last year of his contract. He could do that, but he doesn't seem too forthcoming in terms of losing any of his own money. Hence the lack of a transfer request despite him wanting to move to Madrid...
Maybe he will sign a new deal with certain get out clauses for either an certain amount or should a certain club/s come calling, basically that's what Suarez did with us, after we refused to sell to Arsenal he signed the new deal a few months later, he got more money and when we sold him we got a huge price.
That way at least united will get a more realistic value for one of the worlds top players in his position, he's easily worth 50 million on today gargantuan prices.
