I do not see any relationship whatsoever between campaigns for social justice and equity in the West, and its governments’ readiness or willingness to defend Ukraine against the Russians.

Can someone explain how the two can be connected please? Because to me, the first appears to have absolutely zero influence on the second.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's just a sneaky way of conservatives blaming the left for Putin.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No it isn’t. It’s a comment on focusing on the wrong things. That’s all.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is it one or the other? Also it’s not as if focus has been on social justice and improving society for all, irrespective or race, gender or sexuality and Russia has snuck up on us catching us off guard. The threat of Russia and what it could do has been well known for years.

Unless this is a lament of the Conservatives who trot out phrases like “woke” and “culture wars” whilst giving golden visas to Oligarchs and accepting £2m in donations from Russians.

There's a recurring pattern emerging. The Russian soldiers being confronted, and the ones being captured, are all repeating the claim that "this is all just a training exercise".

Just listened to JOB interviewing Starmer, what a contrast to the over entitled, under qualified, corruptible,
contemptible buffoon in No.10 at the moment.

Bit boring which we could also do with a bit of.

People like to talk about Biden’s so called dementia but Trump’s cognitive decline has been fast and brutal (insert joke that it’s always been that way)

He's never been the brightest but yeah if you listen to TV interviews from even 10-15 years ago, there's a quite remarkable difference.

Makes sense. Poch’s last game as PSG manager before he takes over at United after beating Liverpool 4-0 in the final will effectively be a home game (same city at least).

Because social justice let Russia slip under the radar. Ok then. I’d say the social justice narrative fits in well with don’t invade a sovereign nation against their will claiming the territory to be yours.

Putin Russian spin.

Ukraine is natzi or neo natzi with far right militias attacking Russians in Donbas, deaztika flags on tanks, far right nationalist gangs and paramilitary groups, active in Ukraine army etc etc.

So putin is denatzifying Ukraine?

Latest reports say Russian troops in Kyiv and across Ukraine, while taking Chernobyl too.

West claims Russia lost 450 personnel yesterday and assault failed, or was slower than expected.

Yet what dominated our lives over the past few years has been anti-racism, anti-capitalism, excesses of capitalism (banking really if we’re honest), tax the rich and identity politics. I think you could argue that this is pretty ridiculous given that we agreed to protect Ukraine when they gave up their nuclear weapons in 1994. Or the Crimean Crisis in 2014.

--------------------

Trying to achieve better lives for 99% of the population is ridiculous?

You would prefer a Russian oligarchal system?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don’t have a clue what you are on about. Why would you think I would prefer a Russian oligarchy?

Your 99% of the population exemplifies what I’m talking about in terms of our western arrogance. I’m not saying we are wrong but I think it is wrong to assume that everyone wants the same things.

That is what Zelenksy has said live on TV, as he and his family in Kyiv are number one targets for Putin.
