But even then Hec per the link above from New Statesman it is a majority of not just the country but also of Tory supporters who support greater taking in of Ukrainian refugees. It seems to be such a minority view.

Is it though? I'd like to believe the vast majority of citizens here regardless of politics want to help, but my faith in who we are, who we are becoming is questioning our national morality. We used to be decent, I don't think we are as much anymore.

Since the "hostile environment" we've had a home office making it as hard as possible to emigrate here and now Ukrainians with family or contacts here are getting caught up in the deliberately difficult system.

To a lot of us that feels inhumane

I thought Patel had hit rock bottom when she got busted trying to give UK taxpayers money to the Israeli army.

I don't think they want a precedent for other war fleeing refugees, you know, the Syrians, the Libyans, the Iraqis etc.

Priti Patel has today said they will be allowing Ukrainians who aren't eligible under our current visa scheme to come but no details of how that will work as of yet

Hopefully the numbers do increase. But the mere fact the HO have been turning away refugees (with reports of even those with family ties to the UK) in the first place is in my view abhorrent.

Ironically Brexit has helped the EU resettle refugees, as there was no UK to veto its decision to allow all Ukrainian refugees, without a visa requirement.
