Vidal, it would be like a bouncy-castle convention....

Take of your shoes and jump on.

CLUB STATEMENT

Derby County Football Club can confirm that Gary Rowett has asked for permission to speak with Stoke City regarding the vacant manager’s position at the bet365 Stadium.

The club is now in discussion with Stoke regarding the matter and will update our supporters in due course.

I think there is only one inference from that.

Now, a new thread asking who we should appoint.

More disruption and discontinuity if GR goes. Especially under a regime of no more investment. (Unless Mel has his eye on an iconic new manager and then spending substantially more cash). If not, we'll be as badly off as Forest next season.

I have not been so impressed by Derby's staff and transfer selections with the exception of Jerome, Lawrence and Vydra - who all just about justified their fee - though none of them has broken our mould of relative mediocracy in terms of earning us promotion. I don't know hoe I can possibly think that with Vydra being the league's top scorer. Maybe I'm just resenting the fact that we couldn't turn over Fulham recently. Certainly if we had another 10 or 12 goal man we would be in a different place now - so I must not take my frustration out on Vydra.

Totally groundless speculation.
Morris may be in the process of selling his interests to a Chinese conglomerate, and for Rowett it was a case of 'once bitten'.....

Even if he doesn't decide to go to Stoke he has in effect burnt his bridges with Derby, as did McClaren (though he returned for a short while later).

Welcome to Derby Mr Allardyce

There is a 'moan-in' on RD, btw.....

It is vital that I am kept fully informed. I need everything you have Ang. And I want it now!

I guess Rowett will be thinking that he may as well go there and get paid twice as much for getting moaned at by the supporters?

Heb, I'm reading the comments on RD live and starting to lose the will to live.
Get out now Gary, while you can

Craig Ramage isn’t pleased he said he didn’t like Rowett’s football anyway. Go on Craig.

Ramage reckons he can do better?

Nigel Clough has unfinished business, and Derby are going to have an ‘austerity season’
Makes perfect sense.

Typical twattery from a Notts fan.
Nothing to talk about regarding Forest. Not unusual after another dismal season.
Still, Forest won the European Cup against a club nobody can remember 38 years ago.
Well done you.
Why not go and hide until next September when we'll beat you yet again.

It definitely needs consideration. He did wonders at Burton.
He’s used to managing under financial constraints which seems inevitable now at Derby.
It must be frustrating to look down the barrel of yet another season with no continuity or stability.

It’ll not be boring

It will at the City Ground.

Ramage's preferred option was Simmo
I don't think I'd object to him getting another chance.
(Wassall as Assistant ?)
Always quite liked him.

I reckon that's a good shout

Oh dear Derby.
Gets Rowett in, sells young players Ince, Hughes, buys Huddlestone and Jerome, goes on a terrible run taking you from 2nd to 6th, messes up a 1-0 lead in playoffs, then leaves club for Stoke and To think,he is a Derby fan!!
Fair play Gary.

It will be 51 years to the day on 1st June since the Messiah first graced the corridors of the BBG.

Time we had another unknown upstart who knows his onions.
