So, fellow DCFC posters, what WOULD constitute:-
1/ Success by Frank
2/ Resounding success by Frank?

Bear in mind that we/I thought we would never get to a play-off position this year. So technically GR was a success.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Success would be if we are above Stoke and obviously Notts Forest. Of course without saying we must be in the top 6 and playing wonderful free flowing football............

Incidentally that marvellous all-rounder Keogh took 1-49 for Northants v Derbyshire. Northants need 114 from 12 overs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Derbyshire just beat Northants by 51 runs

Derbys 254/2 (50 overs)
Northants 214 all out (46 overs)

His dad is a handsome chap and that FA CUP with Brooking and West ham was what the Cup was for me.

Great to see the rams fans panting and ready to take a different approach to a new season.

We thought we had this scenario with Clement but this is different.

He will be given time, the players and potential ones will want to be part of this.

Had a lot more to say but I was up at 5.45 and for home at 8.

Btw the food stuff is happening just being a one of those weeks.

I've watched his interviews now and I'm genuinely excited and optimistic about this. It's very easy to make all the right noises to the media but something about Frank just has that x factor about him. I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it but I have a really, really good feeling about it. Also with Jody coming in, who has proven himself a more than capable coach with the all conquering Chelsea youth team, he will have great people around him as well. It's very easy for people to point out that often great players don't make great managers but for every Robson, Keane, Souness and Zola there's a Dalglish, Guardiola, Clough and Simeone. Time will tell which side Frank will fall under but as I said, something about him just feels right.

I would also like to add that I'm stoked for big Dave getting the west brom gig full time, he definitely earned that and I hope he gets a deserved warm welcome when he comes back to pride park with west brom next season.

Harps ... well said all round!
Lampard has a certain hunger to succeed ... always has had... that will rub off on others.
And Darren Moore will get a huge welcome I'm sure. Top bloke!

I was not in favour of appointing Lampard but he comes across very well. The right team around him is essential and particularly a Sporting Director type of person to whom Lampard can delegate the onerous chores of trying to hawk around players surplus to requirements and find takers. There will be quite a lot of that you would think.

Most managers fail in the eyes of fans and get sacked so the odds in that sense are against him. Pretty much all recent Derby managers have come in with some evidence that they might be the right man for the job, more evidence than Lampard. His fame, intelligence and charm will buy him a bit of breathing space but not more than that. Because of his profile there will be extra scrutiny and extra pressure when results aren't going well.

Given the current state of the playing staff and the financial side I would judge success as evidence of development of an overall philosophy within the club, of younger players being brought through and with a style of play emerging that shows hope for future progression. With that I would be happy with top half next season. I think there will have to be quite a lot of changes which seems to be why Rowett jumped ship. I think he thought replicating this season's top-six would be very hard and that didn't want it to look as though he was taking the club backwards.I reckon play-offs next season would be a great success for Lampard.

Well said Vidal Just 2 things worry me, one is John Terry and the other is that Lampard is going to Russia for the BBC.

It has been said that the 3rd team to go up from the championship are at a disadvantage to the other 2 as they have less time to recruit players. Now as the transfer window closes earlier it is imperative that things get moving. How can this happen when the manager is away till mid July? Please don't tell me he is scouting while away cuz we all know we need the Portugal number 7, the Spain number 4 and the Argentine number 10.

I sincerely hope our club doesn't turn into some sort of circus/more of a circus.

P.S. I thought Hegginbottom was a prat to go to Leeds, poor old Barnsley.

I don't see that him being in Russia or Derby makes a fat lot of difference. Players are all on their holidays as are agents. Nothing much tends to happen until the players report back for pre-season training. He has a disadvantage in not having seen our players in action except on telly so deciding who he wants to keep and who he wants to let go if possible is his first task. You would think he will be scrutinising contracts and watching videos to make an initial list of wants and want-nots and that there will be someone in place soon who can get on with it. Managers are involved very little now in the nitty-gritty of negotiations. I understand that telephones work in Russia aswell even if they are in all probability tapped.

Vidal. If he is in Russia for the whole World Cup he eill miss 2 weeks of pre season as the players are back end of June.
But that's all fitness stuff so not that important that he's around
While he is at the world cup he can still be involved in transfers.

posted on 2/6/18

Then I don't like that. He ought to be back when the players are back so that he can have one-to-one conversations with each of them. Even if it's just fitness-building he can get a sense of players' personalities and character. I hope he's not there for the duration but I haven't seen any announcement.

We’ll know at the start of the season. If we arn’t ready or have a slow start the moaners will be on Lampards back straight away saying he was galavanting around Russia when he should having been indoctrinating his players in the Lampard Vision.

I’m quite sure from what he’s been saying that his priority will be DCFC. It has to be, the championship demands it. You cannot go about it half cocked because it will bit big lumps out of you.

Last time I looked-up at a clear sky, there were several aeroplanes flying to and fro from goodness knows where?

Maybe Frank can jump on one to get back to Derby between England games?

posted on 2/6/18

Far from me to blow my own trumpet, so to speak. But proud to have endorsed Frank whilst such luminaries as Vidal were still all a gloom and dithering

posted on 2/6/18

Blow your trumpet for all you're worth Heb. I'm impressed you can even reach. There will be none more supportive of His Frankness than I now that he has been appointed and, as Gandalf himself once said, even the very wise cannot see all ends.

We may not be in the market for the Argentinian No 10 but there will be many players out there who will be in our market. There agents will be there too. Many a deal is done over dinner.

Back at home is has a full squad to chose from, one that has a player for any formation. We certainly are not stuck with one style of play.

I’m reasonably optimistic about it all, it’s easy to get excited.

Scouse is right. I wonder if they have considered using those aeroplane things. They make it possible to travel great distances in a short space of time.

It was a similar problem when Psycho came to Forest in 2014, he had his World Cup commitments with the media to complete prior to starting full time.
If it’s any solace he started really wall

Fist pumping and shouting “GET IN” a lot only works for a few games Strett.
As Iwas says Psycho was a bit thick and was unable to articulate his ideas to the team once the early euphoria wore off.

I’m not saying Frank will be a success but he isn’t thick.

Frank is not as qualified to to the job as Pearce, though.
