FRANK LAMPARD

Attention to detail is very important in life Strett. Obviously, if you wanted to hear what Lampard had to say and spent your time tuning in to ITV during the World Cup you would be disappointed.

If you are anxious to know how I feel about the whole thing I could perhaps refer you to my earlier comment on this thread. Here it is:

"I don't see that him being in Russia or Derby makes a fat lot of difference. Players are all on their holidays as are agents."

I think that covers it.

There are some individuals who have made a very good living from appearing to be very stupid. Lou Costello, Stan Laurel and so on. I often wonder, Strett, whether it is possible for you to be as thick as you appear, or whether you might be just pretending. If you told us I suppose it would destroy the mystery of it all. It's one hell of an act though, if it is. Perhaps you are like the character Marsh in Colditz who feigned insanity to gain release but who so absorbed himself in his role that he did in fact lose his mind. You may be on a slippery slope here, if your buffoonery is indeed a pretence.

Do you think Frank is using the job away to distance himself from the imminent cost cutting that will be taking place in Derby?

I suppose the team he’ll walk into sometime late July will be different from the one he signed up to manage [sic].

I guess you don’t know as much as anyone, Vidal so if you want to deflect by throwing insults, then fill yer boots.

Also looks like Forest are spending as Karanka is at work doing the job he’s paid to do
All managers are different and rookie ones even more so.

I don't know if I don't know as much as anyone. It seems fairly obvious that he had already signed a contract with the BBC, that when the Derby job came up that this was discussed with Mel Morris, and that both parties were content that he go to Russia with the BBC. I really wouldn't read any more into it than that. I doubt there will be "imminent" cost-cutting as such but as has been stated there will be a desire to reduce the wage bill significantly as and when possible. I think your supposition will be incorrect: I expect the squad won't be vastly different when he joins for pre-season training (I think you accidentally typed "late July" there) but as would have been the case had Rowett stayed or with any other manager I would anticipate several outgoings by the end of the transfer window. I have no doubt that all of these will be with Lampard's agreement.

Are we to assume that if Peo Guardiola is seen at the World Cup then Man City won’t win the title? Or any other manager for that matter? Got to love Strett’s logic.

Peo has got a decent cv in management, he’s kind of earned the respect in his job.
Also, are you trying to compare Frank Lampard and Peo Guardiola in management terms?

Yes Strett if you say so, you’d argue with yourself in an empty room so I am not getting involved with your supreme knowledge of everything Derby County

Owd Strett, just sounds like owd Jom

Remember strett, there was a time when Peo was simply a former top player with zero managerial experience.........

I do. Peo was at Barcelona though.

What's your point? Frank spent the majority of his career at Chelsea and while not quite at Barcelona levels, they're hardly Accrington Stanley either.

Do you want me to agree with you when you say Lampard is as good a manager as Peo?

When did I say Frank is as good as Peo? Go back and read my earlier comment surmising my thoughts on Frank.

He will be away gushing over these 2 unknowns who have made a staggering combined 14 appearances for Benfica.

I think under Lampard we will see the Tom Lawrence that shone at Ipswich. He looked lost at times with the hofball tactics

I think we will definitely see the return of a box to box midfielder. Bryson maybe unless he goes to Cardiff. Fed up of watching us concede possession for 70% of the game. It is OK if it works but if it doesn't the games are painful to watch.

I reckon you're right tommo, I can see Frank being a ball to feet, gives his forward players some freedom to express themselves type of manager much like McLaren did.

I saw so many bad performances from Lawrence last season, so much petulant sulking and poor judgement, that I can't and will not accept it was down to indifferent tactics from the Manager.

As my old fella used to say, he needs a size 10 up his ar5e.

Nowadays though you get counseling!

Your Dad deserves a standing ovation for that comment, more than Lawrence deserved the 10 or so that he got for the endless inept performances he served up.
