Gong to be very interesting if they do decide to continue the season behind doors. How would you enforce social distancing ? In the tunnel when players assemble before the game? During the game? Will tackling be banned?
Would there be a marker by the goal line for social distancing during a corner? Will the players have to stop and use a sanitiser during the game!
It’s all BS this drivel about continuing the season behind closed doors?
Money driven if the decision was this!

I actually entirely disagree with this. Footballers (say what you want about them) are still elite, professional athletes. They still have intense training and preparation for matches.
You can't tell me that before games players hear an immense atmosphere and suddenly win or lose the game? What about the team on the pitch? The tactical meetings they've had?? Does that go out of the window because they're away from home with a nasty crowd??
Man United 1 Palace 2
Chelsea 0 Bournemouth 1
Liverpool 2 Atleti 3
Man United 0 Burnley 2
None of those away teams bottled it due to a loud atmosphere.

They'll all be tested and probably in quarantine leading up to the game.
WHat happens though if a squad get affected heavily. How's that fair
Even if we were able to restart the season in full stadiums, there is still a question of fairness/ a caveat that injured players who would’ve been unavailable for fixtures can come back and play.
Basically trying to say..of course there is some integrity that will be lost whatever happens to the league as a result of a massive global pandemic

Yeah.... Florida is a tough one.... old population because of the retiree's, Lots of tourists and a culture of being outdoors because of the weather. Would expect much of the US to reopen quicker than you think though...... We'll do what we always do.... Print more money (Make the national debt another generations problem) and throw money at the problem..... quickest way to get the global economy moving is to get the american consumer spending again... We're not subtle but usually pretty effective
For me, I’ve always thought in my mind that the following scenarios are the most ‘fair’ in order:
1. Restart season whenever it is deemed safe to do so with closed stadiums
2. End the season where it is and base relegation/promotion/champions on where teams are in the league. The only problem with this is eg. In PL Villa have one game in hand and a win in that game takes them out of the relegation zone. This plan obviously only makes sense if everyone in league plays same amount of games
3. Void the season
Obviously these are all based on this issue that we should try and start the season in relatively good time for the next season. However recently I’ve started to think the best option is to forget about that (trying to restart in good time). Maybe for all leagues, just restart when it’s safe. Even if this is like November 2020 time. Finish the season and start the new season on a new timetable. Over the years it could be possible to get it back to normal. Seasons may have to be broken for international tournaments. There would be issues with transfer markets and contracts but they are surmountable.
Kunta
The question is what happens after option 3. The same as after option 2?
I think most people agree with voiding a season champions and CL places is based on the 18/19 season. I really don’t like the idea though

OK but looking at UEFA's statement, reverting to last season is proper off the table.
Finish the season and start the new season on a new timetable. Over the years it could be possible to get it back to normal. Seasons may have to be broken for international tournaments. There would be issues with transfer markets and contracts but they are surmountable.
---------------------
That sounds horrible. It's like choosing long term pain over a short term inconvenience.
Kunta, the absolute fairest way is restart the season WITH crowds as per normal. I know it wont happen but it has to be an option if there is any slight possibility.
I also disagree with ending the season but giving the CL places to the previous seasons league finishes. But then I also disagree with doing it via the current position unless its mathematical.
I don't like any of it except start it again with crowds basically. Which isn't going to happen

Yea, it is already clear that the country wants to be moving again and fast. I know Trump believe that is the right thing to do but he has to balance it. I think he is right by saying that things have to get back to normal. The virus is serious (understatement), but it seems to be taking priority over other life threating situations. I read somewhere about the diagnosis rate on cancer is currently at a quarter of the "norm" at the moment. That is a worry and obviously only one example. Mental wellbeing and the impact on that is just as big IMO. Need to get the balance right and I think the US will want things back ASAP.
Imo the TV companies and premier league are the ones really driving the conclusion of the league behind closed doors. I don't think the general fan is that fussed anymore.
I'm happy with the current top 4 going into next year's champions league, certainly the top 3 as they're way ahead of 5th.
However, Bournemouth can't be relegated on goal difference with 9 games to go.
Then you could probably say United shouldn't be denied the chance for champions league with plenty left to play for.
The whole thing is very messy and to be honest I don't particularly care. Whatever outcome there is there will be many that will disagree.

Apols If I repeating an old topic, Haven't been on here much lately.... Busy at work... No need to start arguments... more important things in life
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't be silly. Its the most topical thing on here and rightly so.
Im pretty sure we all currently live our lives dictated by this virus in one way or another. Whether you are watching it on the news/briefings or talking about it in nearly every conversation you are having. Work is all related to it, personal lives are all about it too. Its crazy isn't it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It sure is, Living in the US I'm really sorry to see what a hard time the UK is having. Its a bit odd here (in addition to the odd comments from Trump !!! Jeez) Here on the East coast/ Tristate its really bad while across massive parts of the US (Cali, Texas in particular, considering its size & population) its well under control, testing is effective, health services coping well and many aspects of life going on without crazy disruption
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am meant to be going to Florida on the 28th July. I have already come to terms with the fact we wont be able to come.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yea, it is already clear that the country wants to be moving again and fast.

Totally agree Diamondlights, I`ve said this from day one, the season can not now be 100% fair and its integrity has been compromised.
But I continue to be shot down by the usual suspects, who are blinded by club loyalties and their agendas.
