So on that we agree. The question now is. Who should it be, what do we spend. what are the wages.

If we can find someone that fills that criteria, then I am sure we will be looking to sign them. If we can't get them, how far down the list are you willing to travel to get one to come?

As I keep saying it is easier to want, much harder to do. Believe it or not we both want the same thing. I am just more realistic about how we achieve it.

If I'm honest, If we sign anyone. For me it would be central midfield. Sanchez might be a good fit, but at the right price, and preferably not in a hospital bed.

No you’re not. You have just convinced yourself that you are. 👍

Fine Buy who you like, spend what you want, and see where it gets us. If you are not willing to accept limitations. Then you are not realistic in your thinking, Pretty much fans in general, but that is the heart ruling the head.

Not wise.

Could you let me know how much I want to spend please. What is the level of limitations that I won’t accept, but you will?

posted on 28/11/21

That is the real question isn't it? we can go on about needing this or needing that. But how we go about achieving that is the real problem.

I can't answer about budgets etc, but I do trust Fosun can, and do understand things far more than me, you or any other fan. So yes I may want or hope for certain things. But I am not so blind to the issues, that if Fosun can't deliver everything I hope for, then they are doing something wrong.

TheBlackCountry, you are one of the better posters on this site, I'm sure you get where I'm coming from. I'm not against signings, I get as excited as anyone, I do expect signings, but I also accept the owners to do it with thought and purpose. So far I think they have done a pretty good job.

The problem we have with expectations is to some extent generated by Fosun themselves who came in saying money is not the problem and the publicity we got in the early days isn’t that different to what Newcastle are getting now. And we brought in Neves, Costa, Cavaleiro then Jimenez and Moutinho and others and it was beginning to feel like Christmas every day.

Things have been reigned in more recently and I don’t think people know what to expect in the next year or two. The squad stil looks shallow at times and we only named 8 out of 9 subs yesterday of which two were keepers.

Our first 11 is very good especially when the likes of Neto and Jonny return so we can cope with threatening the too 6 when most are fit, but as we saw last season not having the depth of quality does see us fall back when a few players are out

Spangles you are another very good poster. I think you nailed it with the first paragraph. Under Fosun we took off like a rocket, bringing in players we could only dream of.

Fans want that to continue, but the more reasonable fans realise, the higher we climb, the harder the next step gets.

I doubt very much even with Fosun, we can ever really compete with Man City and the like. But I do believe we can be more than a number in the Prem, and are in a position now to actually win something. Whether that is a place in Europe, a cup. Or even a big Prem scalp.

We have a very good team, which only makes it harder to add numbers to improve it. I think Sa, Hueng (yes I do like what I see) and Ait Nouri, is some solid work in that direction.

Trincao, anybody who knows me, will no I was never convinced. But I will be happy to be proved wrong.

Last summer the club had got over its naive assumption that all our first choice players were always going to be available for selection and did identify players that they wanted to bring in but of they couldn't get the deals done. Presumably money was the issue but granted other issues could be at play. So it seems that we can't actually afford or attract the target players to the club and if we're not repared to lower our expectations where does that leave us?

posted on 28/11/21

I do think Trincao is talented but not really ready for top flight football week in week out. He needs time but being a loan player it’s difficult to be patient. He needs to toughen up because he is too easily muscled off the ball. Wouldn’t bet against him turning into a top player in time though

To me this is becoming a far more constructive discussion, than simply saying we need players.

We have to be smart in our transfers, and try and hit gold with people like Jota. We don't have to necessarily buy the top talent, but if we can dig up enough gold. Then we can give the big boys a run for their money, and hopefully grow while doing so.

Shame Mosquera got injured because he looked a top player from what little we saw of him

posted on 28/11/21

Agreed Spangles, I also thought Shabani might have something. But that is another we have yet to see much of.

I think it’s difficult to see Traore staying beyond January. Bruno isn’t picking him and it was a real disappointment yesterday with Trincao and Hwang looking ineffective that we brought him on and played him right wing back. Hopefully if he goes we will get a good fee and reinvest the money in the team

You’re not on here much now are you?

I’ve just come third in the biggest competition!

Amiga, I pretty much agree with everything you've stated above and hope you contribute more in the future. We've been missing constructive comments and criticisms on here for some time and it's encouraging that you aren't like some who think we should just go out and buy, just to make up the numbers.

One of our commentators yesterday stated that we have only started games with 14 different players. That can be interpreted in two ways. 1) Consistency and togetherness or 2) Insufficient squad. For me, as long as you've got 3 quality players on the bench to come on, then who needs 9 anyway. Of course it would be good to have a large squad like City, and the other top sides, but we're not there yet. Like you stated, it going to take time, but unfortunately there are fans who are too impatient. Rome wasn't built in a day and let's not forget that Fosun had a 10 year plan. Maybe funds have dried up for a variety of reasons and maybe it is true that we have to sell a better player to raise money. But I'm sure no-one on here knows what's really going on behind the scenes.

You are spot on with regard to transfers, something I've tried to put across, only to be told by the same posters that I'm against buying new players.

Where you fall short however, is suggesting that the Black Country is a good poster.

A cunning plan by Neves. Get booked against Norwich and miss the game against Burnley. Now available for the Liverpool game.

Well to be fair, I can't say I know too much about his posting. But at least he had a decent debate, and if he is honest knows what I am saying is correct.

But I am certainly not knocking fans for speculating on the team, tactics and signings. It's part of the fun, some are just more sensible than others.

I honestly have no idea why anyone would keep suggesting some posters just want us to go out and buy, i have yet to see anyone ever say 'lets buy any old shat'.

Plenty of us have said exactly what Bruno and Nuno have said though, in that we are light in numbers in certain areas, Bruno saying this again this week ffs.

This weekends argument must be among the dumbest i have ever seen on here to be honest.

The big clubs have been getting it wrong for years it seems.

Cinci the reason it is obvious fans like yourself get fixated on signings, is simply because if we don't sign anyone, it's a crap window.

I can also see not signing players as a positive. The club know what they want and the money they have to spend, and will walk away from a deal that isn't right.
(the ones you would make)

It means, when Wolves negotiate for a player, the selling club, know they cannot take the pi55 if they want us to buy. Unlike Man Utd £80 million for McGuire <
