You've banged on about "media coverage" for hours.
I haven't seen any media coverage on the queen, do you know why?
Because I ain't sat doing fack all watching the media.
Get off ye ars3 and do something that isnt going to wind you up. Jesus wept.
Do you know what I love?
I love the people that complain about stuff but do NOTHING to help themselves get away from the thing they're complaining about.
It's like those people that moan about their sh!tty jobs endlessly but 5 years later they're still there, at that same job.
Moral of the story, stop watching the fecking media.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you do realise right that you're complaining about stuff people are posting on this site and doing nothing to get away from the site.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not the one who is complaining.
I'm amused that fridgeboy has been moaning for hours about media, yet still continues to wind himself/herself up over that very thing.
I'm also on annual leave today.. just chilling playing some resident evil 2 remake on the ps4.

There are some really butthurt people that there is importance being placed on the death of the queen.
Get over yourselves. Feck me.
The only thing I don't understand is the cancellation of amateur games, but I think that is just amateur FA following suite.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the reason for this article is to point out the inaccuracies of the media reporting. This is a problem as the media should really be reporting the truth rather than their version of it.
The importance of the death of the Queen is different for everybody, but to me, as a Welshman, having the monarchy of a foreign territory forced upon us, and then being “expected” to care when one of them dies is ridiculous.
I neither care for, nor want, the royal family.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, I can understand from your point of view.

Well written RR.
My thoughts are similar in some ways. Different in others. I am of an age who was brought up knowing only the status quo of the New Elizabethan era that evolved out of the outbreak of peace in Europe with the security of NATO and the freedoms and rights created by joining the Council of Europe and the Common Market/EU, of which we have all vastly benefited from in the UK.
Yesterday news was a weird day which made me stop and take stock and wonder what is next for the UK. The security of the EU has been taken away, the Union is under threat and now with the death of The Queen who was a constant and probably the glue that stuck it all together, has now gone. BTW I’m not advocating Monarchy, or not, here, I am just lamenting the end of an era in my own life which has made me slightly uneasy and anxious about the unknown road we are on. But I will get over it in a couple of days.
Only those who really knew Elizabeth Windsor, the woman, personally will be actually 'grieving' in the way these known and well rewarded sycophants in the news media and entertainment businesses, such as the over smarmy and comfortable Nicholas Witchell, described in his very well-rehearsed, off-the-cuff, anecdotal manner, last night on the BBC. The same man that the now King Charles was heard to call, off-microphone once, as 'that awful man'. How he is still Royal correspondent at the BBC just for that alone is mind boggling.
I have very little time for the monarchy. Of course I don't delight in the queen passing away, but as soon as I heard the news I thought 'that's sad for her family etc', but it doesn't have any personal effect on me.
But as with most media coverage, it will be OTT etc, but that's the way life is. And whilst people are effected in different ways, no-one in the public domain really has the balls to say that a significant number of people are not effected at all by what is happening. But its like most media stories, the media will decide what coverage they give and how they cover it, and that's why things get blown out of all proportion - it's in their interest to do so, but they will say they are doing what the public wants.......
I think in maybe 50-100yrs time, people will look back at us and say, 'can you believe they still had a royal family'.........

In agreement with your article RR.
Much the same with the recent jubilee celebrations, almost everyone I know up and down the country was happy to enjoy the long weekend, but didn't have any interest in honouring the reign of a monarch.
The coverage on the TV however (so I've heard) would have you believe there were tens of millions of people celebrating street parties.
Was attending a webinar yesterday evening and one of the attendees announced the news, it was acknowledged respectfully by the chair but with something along the lines of 'the show must go on'.
Again this morning in a call with the team, colleagues from across Europe (German, France, Italy etc.) couldn't have been less interested stating that it didn't really impact them, and not much from my British colleagues either.
I suspect it's a generational thing and this marks the end of an era as I don't see the institution lasting much longer.

I second this. It's a shame an old lady has died but no more of a shame than any other old lady dying. I know some of my fellow countrymen will be quite pleased with the news. I won't go that far but I do understand why they may feel that way.
Afternoon Diafol.
I wonder if the Queen passing will weaken the Union in any way. Could it somewhat hasten the independence of Scotland, and more importantly to me, Wales?
Why do we want the United kingdoms to become the individual kingdoms, like they were a thousand years ago?

Because we don’t want to be governed by another country that don’t have our best interests as part of their governance.
There are so many issues, many of them historic, that has seen a growing feeling among the populaces in Wales, that want us to govern and rule ourselves.
It’s not unique to us either. Many places around the world would like their country back.
To go into this any deeper would require a separate article on the subject.
I’m guessing you are not Welsh, so maybe not aware of the context and historic battle for Welsh recognition and culture?

I’d never really given it much thought until now but I’ve heard some incredible stories about her today, just in the House of Commons a while ago Boris Johnson was telling a story about how she used to drive her Range Rover across her balmoral estate all by herself, he also claimed she used Tupperware and a single bar electric fire
I wonder if many more revelations will come out in the next week or so
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a pretty good story about when she met the Prince of Saudi Arabia and suggested they go for a drive around the estates, only to then personally drive him around and thrash it in her Land Rover, much to his shock due to it being illegal for women to drive over there.
I thought it was a wonderful not so subtle dig.

I don't care who you are. Your mums just died and your expected to greet people and smile. Like em or loathe em, that is some commitment and something I'm sure 99% people would not even contemplate on the loss of a loved one.
Good article RR👍

Sorry RB&W, I put my reply under the Eagle Fang by mistake.

Wow
There are some really butthurt people that there is importance being placed on the death of the queen.
Get over yourselves. Feck me.
The only thing I don't understand is the cancellation of amateur games, but I think that is just amateur FA following suite.

Staggered this has got three 1 star votes. It's not even offensive. It's considered, thoughtful and in no way inflammatory.

In a nutshell, yes. Many, many reasons for it though.
