Zidane never mentioned Gerrard to my knowledge he said this:

When once asked “what does it feel like to be the best player in the world?” Zidane reportedly replied: “I don’t know, ask Paul Scholes.”

Which is nonsense, as Zidane was clearly far superior to scholes. I think Zidane was being modest with that comment, but it does speak volumes in how high scholes was rated. I don’t think Zidane ever commented on SG.

Saw an interview recently where Sterling humbly admitted that Januzaj was the superior talent? Annoyingly I can't find it anywhere now.

It's always been laughable how United fans jealously elevate some of their players just so they can have a legend like Gerrard. Embarrassing for them but also laughable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Cantona is the real classic.

Man scored about 14 goals once and they pronounce him a King ffs

'Oh yeah, I mean he came in and gave the whole club a lift.'

If we ordered Bergkamp from Wish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

A few months back an article on here came down to top 10 pre era midfielders and one of them already had Casemiro in at number 8, that's what we're dealing with here. Wonder where Casemiro will rank in 5 years time as United player are like wine, get better with age.

Lol, Utd fans still banging the drum.

Fact is Fergie was the real legend. Bar a few years in black and white that few are alive to remember Utd were a joke club before him and are a joke after.

"Ooooooo but we have a lot of fans. Look at me. We're Man U"

That's probably because your knowledge is shallow.

Is he the best in the world? He might not get the attention of [Lionel] Messi and Ronaldo but, yes, I think he just might be," Zidane said.

This was said by Zidane at a time when Scholes was very active at United so...

It’s like when Naby Keita was signed, before he even arrived you lot were proclaiming he was a combination of Zidane/Kante/Pirlo/Iniesta
Turns out he was just shiiiite and a total waste of money 🤷‍♂️

Daft argument, as usual. I think Scholes was better, mug OP thinks Gerrard's better. It's not like anyone can ever win these arguments

There's no end to this awful week for United fans. Beaten in injury time, public spat between player and manager, another woman beater, inviting and commemorating a convicted paedo and now from the horses mouth it has been confirmed to United fans(no other fan thinks it's even a debate) that Gerrard was by far the better player and could have done what Scholes did, ie. pass the ball around in acres of space, ffs even Carrick was able to do that, whilst Scholes couldn't do what Gerrard did(everything!).

These guys need a break, it's been a tough week.

Yeah so that's not true is it. Literally no-one ever said that. Bit weird tbh.

What is true is that Utd have had more women beaters on the books than thry've won European Cups.

Gerrard was better at most parts of the game and the better play overall, not even sure why this is considered controversial.

Just like Zidane didn't say those things about Scholes they claim. Some guy literally made all these quotes up and posted them, then they got shared around the internet and not one person decided to investigate these baseless quotes with no source, despite the ridiculousness of them

The argument was already won when they played, before Scholes got elevated to greatest player in history, several years after retiring, having got better in retirement.

Team of the year record eight times. Scholes twice.
World XI three times. Scholes never.
Third in Balon D'or. No idea if Scholes was ever even nominated.
UEFA Player of the Year. Scholes never.
UEFA Team of the Year three times, Scholes never.
Record Player of the Month awards.
UEFA Team of the Tournament EURO 2012.
Twice England player of the Year.
Scholes passed the ball around really well, in top teams and got more medals, playing in better teams but individually Gerrard was miles better.

The argument was, and is, futile. Each is supported by their own clubs fans, and there is no proof.
I'd have been delighted if Gerrard played for us, and Pool fans would have loved Scholes
