Didi Hamann was the driving force behind the CL final comeback.

Gerrard was without doubt the driving force, hence the MOTM award but changing the system to get more bodies in midfield to a three at the back, with Hamann coming on for the right back was a big part of it.

In the age-old Gerrard/Hamann/Diao/Aquilani debate, Gerrard just shades it.

It's hilarious watching them fume whilst trying to claim it's Liverpool fans fuming. Let's see what they come up with next, I think there's still more hilarious angry comments to come.

Well you guys invented the Gerrard Scholes debate after they had retired, since it was never even a debate when they played, so why not this one also?

There’s been a number of better Liverpool players in the PL than Gerrard.

He’s so good Benitez had to shoe horn him into team at RW or number 10 because he was a liability in midfield.

It's only the fog of nostalgia that even puts Gerrard in the argument He was good, but Scholes was on a different level.

It's just a harmless video of an ex-pro talking about football. No need for all this Liverpudlian anger and simmering resentment.

Care to name them? Considering he's the best Liverpool player of all time, it will be some going.

Ah the good old rewriting of history. Gerrard was outstanding in his box to box role in midfield, in a 4-4-2. By the time Benitez joined Liverpool we were seeing a shift in the PL to 4-2-3-1 with the continental managers like Mourinho coming in, whereby the three midfielders stuck to their individual jobs, meaning 4-4-2 was being outnumbered in the middle, which lead to Keane stating Gerrard was the last of his kind, ie. a complete midfielder in a two man midfield.

When Liverpool were lacking goals, Benitez, knowing Gerrard could play anywhere, moved Gerrard to the right, he scored loads of goals(23 in fact) from there, getting into team of the season again. He then moved him behind the striker to even more devastating effect, to be central of the three behind the striker. No matter where he played, he was outstanding, owing to being a complete player, who could do everything.

Benitez
"He's a central midfielder, and I promise you I'd like to play him in the middle, but I cannot now. You need to find balance and it's better for the team to play him where he is.

Again from the horses mouth. A lot of making stuff up on this thread from angry United fans

Indeed, overused in those times when somebody says silly things, gets made to look foolish and then claim 'bite', 'angry' or other such deflecting things.

Salah, Suarez and Van Dijk were better at their peaks than Gerrard.

Gerrard beats Suarez and VVD on longevity.

Scholes probably couldn't have managed to get sent off within 30 seconds of coming on the pitch, as he simply wasn't that kind of player

Henry said Scholes 1 and Gerrard 2 and Carragher looked stunned in that studio.

Arsenal were out biggest rival by far back then and they hate us too and Henry still picked Scholes as the best.

Scousers wonder why we managed to win as much as we did. Scholes was central to most of it. Never seen a player control and run a game like him in this league until KDB arrived on the scene.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Henry said he chose the former Manchester United midfielder because he "didn't get the credit he deserved."

"He was one of the best, if not the best, that I played against. He could do everything. But unfortunately for him, when he was playing for the national team, people didn’t see it like that."

"If I had a Paul Scholes in my team, everything would be around him."

Sounds like he chose Scholes out of pity.
