Let's also not forget that the founder of the Likud party was the leader to the terrorist group Irgun and became their nations leader. Someone who's group make Hamas look like moderates.

The irony of bringing up how long Israel can use the war as an excuse when you continually use the actions in the late 40s and 50s as the reason for terrorism acts on Israel.
Fact here is that until both sides put to bed what has gone before this doesn't end. It is the here and now that matters, not who got what land 70 years ago. A terrorist attack killing 1000+ people in one swoop sets this whole debacle back another 20 years, of that there is no doubt. The new generation of Israelis and Palestinians are now scarred from this latest mess. Rinse and repeat.

I don't agree.
The reason Israel exists is because of the holocaust. Nothing has equalled that. All religions had a country except for the Jews, so one was made in their ancient homeland. A small country surrounded by enemies who want the extermination of the Jews and for the cessation of Israel. Attacks began immediately.
Hence Israel armed itself and bought weapons.
Mistakes on both sides followed. Israel should have been far kinder, and the Arabs accepted Israel, and all problems fixed by negotiations, and an acceptance of no force by either side.
The holocaust gets, I don't know, brushed over. But six million, more than the population of Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham combine. Nearly every Jews in the world had a story to tell.

For the final time I think Israel should have stopped it's attacks long since.
I also think the path to peace is kindness from Israel, agreeing to a Palestinian state, returning the Golan Heights. Helping Palestine by building houses, hospitals, a modern infrastructure, and kindness on a personal level also. I've posted this twice before this

It will take a monumental shift and it will take the likes of US, UK and EU not giving Israel a free pass.
If they really wanted it, they could have helped long before what has happened on and since Oct 7th took place.
The question is do they though?
From what we see, they don't and don't care about the loss of life of Palestinians.
One just has to see the response to Russia, not being able to compete in Olympics or in tennis under their own flag, etc. Israel would not be treated the same. The double standards applied is apparent that it's hard to deny.

And killed 1200 people, paraded women naked, raped, and took hostages. Reprisals followed, quelle surprise. But Israël would have been canny not to retaliate, and in any event should have stopped after the first few days.

The irony of bringing up how long Israel can use the war as an excuse when you continually use the actions in the late 40s and 50s as the reason for terrorism acts on Israel.
Fact here is that until both sides put to bed what has gone before this doesn't end. It is the here and now that matters, not who got what land 70 years ago. A terrorist attack killing 1000+ people in one swoop sets this whole debacle back another 20 years, of that there is no doubt. The new generation of Israelis and Palestinians are now scarred from this latest mess. Rinse and repeat.

What you see as Israel's justifiable "responses" are always disproportionate, whatever made you think this time would be different?
So let me ask you a question ... what is it about years and years and years of arbitrary detentions, killings, support of militias that also perpetrate kidnappings, torture and rape, land grabs, destruction of property, blockade of goods and all kinds of human rights abuses that have merited countless resolutions of condemnation from the United Nations General Assembly ... what is it about all of these things that merit neither your outrage nor a justifiable "response" on behalf of the Palestinians?

I don't agree.
The reason Israel exists is because of the holocaust. Nothing has equalled that. All religions had a country except for the Jews, so one was made in their ancient homeland. A small country surrounded by enemies who want the extermination of the Jews and for the cessation of Israel. Attacks began immediately.
Hence Israel armed itself and bought weapons.
Mistakes on both sides followed. Israel should have been far kinder, and the Arabs accepted Israel, and all problems fixed by negotiations, and an acceptance of no force by either side.
The holocaust gets, I don't know, brushed over. But six million, more than the population of Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham combine. Nearly every Jews in the world had a story to tell.
