How much did Ross cost us?

posted on 31/12/13

Yea because we've all pinned our hopes on Tom Cleverley

The lad isn't even worth 20m yet nevermind 50m. We could get 2 quality players in for that amount.

Could have got Ozil for less

For me, Ravel Morrison looks every bit as talented and promising. Such a shame his off the field antics led him astray and away from United.

Exactly!

It's a load of old tripe anyway. Kenwright would get down on his knees and kiss the feet of any owner stupid enough to give him £50m for Barkley. The boy is clearly talented but he's not proved anything close to those silly amounts yet.

Ross Barkley has done it for half a season. You know who else done it for half a season before being bought by bigger club? Andy Carroll

I've seen both a young Rooney and Barkley live at Goodison and Ross is far more talented. You robbed us of one but not this one.

£50m fook right off! Rather spend £50m on 2 top quality midfielders or a top class midfielder and legt back/winger! Christ talk about over pricing a player

Don't exaggerate. If you think Barkley is more talented fine, but he's not "far more talented" is he? Also worth remembering that you were watching a 16/17 year old Rooney compared to a 20 year old Barkley.

More potential than Rooney! The hype is really getting out of hand now

50M

That just sums up everything with football, and this nation. Ridiculous.

We have Powell, Lingard and Adnan who can play that position from a youth point of view. We also could bring back Ravel who is doing just as well. Ross Barkley is overrated. He hasn't done anything to be rated £10m, let alone £50m.

........
what a predictable and load of nonsense comment that is. Correct me if i am wrong but rooney at younger than barkley is now was setting the Euro championships alight. Barkley has done hardly anything as yet to even be mentioned in the same breath as wayne

This country is a joke when their next rising star is rated at £50m and he's barely played 3 months of first team football.

Rooney didn't have a triple leg break to halt his progression, but don't take my word for it take the word of the scout and coach that found them both.

From an Arsenal point of view, they did the same with Wilshere and Walcott. Only Rooney has come close to living up to the hype.

Blackbeard

the amount of times i have heard a youngster being overhyped only for them to fall flat on their face. I would go as far to say only around 10-20% actually reach the very top after being lauded from a young age. Barkley still has it all to prove. He looks good no doubt about that but nothing that special so far

Rooney in the 04 euros, my word what a player! At £27m it was a steal on what hes done for united in 10 years, simply brilliant. Still have another 4 seasons out of him yet. And i love how the toffee tries to think going to united is a sideways step christ oh mighty

posted on 31/12/13

So he is injury prone, don't want another Owen Hargreaves

Wayne Rooney is fast approaching becoming United's record all time scorer of all time after winning countless trophies.

No pressure Ross lad.

How many apps has rooney got now??

posted on 31/12/13

£25m for Cesc but £50m for Barkley??

If this occurred then boy Moyes really would be in the wrong job. All these big money links might be a tad overwhelming for the mid-table Scot

Hyperbole in football just gets on my nerves. Having a good friend who's a Wednesday fan, I'd watched Barkley quite a bit before this season. Since I've first watched him I've always held him in high regard and been fairly certain he was going to be a top player.

But then you get talk about £50m, "far more talented than Rooney" and this idea that he's going to be absolutely unstoppable and there's no two ways about it. This sort of hyperbole annoys me to the extent that I actually start retreating a little on my own belief in the player.

Barkley is a good player, but he has shown nowhere near enough to receive the hype he has been receiving recently. Like someone has already said, no.10 with 3 goals and 0 assists this season. It's hardly the stuff of dreams is it?

We could have Morrison back for £10m. A very promising young english player, like barkley, who we used to have at the club.
