I am not Kamran. Do not mistake me for that handicap.

Barkley adds a lot to his team's play. Shows how pathetic things have become when fans use just stats to judge players.

Barkley doesn't even have a single assist this season despite playing the attacking midfield/no.10 role. I'm not even judging him by world class standards but by potential and I've seen much better youngsters who shouldn't cost half of that. Watch a player like Isco in full flow at 20/21 or watch players like Cesc, Silva, Ozil, Mata, Rooney and even Hazard at that age and Barkley is not in that class. Is Barkley even better than Deulofeu in the same Everton? Was watching the Barca lad against Stoke and that was easily better than anything I've seen from Barkley.

It's no coincidence that the best players always top the assists chart. Rooney has created more goals than any other player in the league this season, yet still scores regularly. A no.10 should aim to do both.

Sorry you're not Kamran.

But he's got 3 pl goals and 0 assists in 18 PL apps as a number 10.

Surely, you can see the point we're making?

£8m more than Mesut Ozil? More potential than Wayne Rooney.

World has offiically gone mad.

Martinez has just canned that one...sorry lads....I'm sure you'll sign some good players though...

Ray hall and no he's retired.

And might i say.......

That is some pressure to put on that lads's shoulders after a fairly impressive but not spectacular 4 months of Pl football.

I think Rooney can rest easy.

I think Barkely could potentially work as a cm for us. Hes strong on the ball/commits players, can pick a pass, hes quick, two footed, and has a decent shot on him - everthing we want in a cm.

It's funny a player like Mata who would guarantee you 15+ goals and 20+ assists per season (he got 20 goals and 30 assists last season before Mourinho's lunacy) would probably go for much less than Barkley would. I know who I'd rather have in my team.

Of course I agree with 50 million being a joke. I just disagree with the basis you use for judging players.

Barkley is worth 20m, 25m at most atm

Mata's end product is ridiculous. Disgraceful how Jose has treated him.

Bell, has he played cm though?

Its pretty obvious (to Evertonians who actually watch Everton) he is going to go on to be as good as or better than Rooney..

You pay a premium for English players. That's why foreign alternatives are cheaper.

Good luck with that......

I wonder how many will quickly forget there comments in 4/5 years time.

1984 - no he hasn't. Would like to see him play cm for everton, but he has the attributes to make a good cm.

A question for the everton fans - how much would you realistically want if Barkley was to be sold?

I'm sorry, but on what basis? I've watched a lot of Barkley and - like I've said - I rate him. I think he'll be a good player. But it is not "pretty obvious" that he'll be as good as or better than Rooney. That's conjecture.

If he gets close to Rooney then he'll have done well.

I wouldn't take any amount of money for him, in an ideal world he would stay his entire career. That said of big money comes in I'd seriously consider offers over £50m now in two three years if he carries on I wouldn't be surprised to see a bale sized bid.

Didn't Rooney also leave Everton at 17. Barkley is how old, now?

A similar thing could be leveled in your direction too. In 4/5 years, if he isn't at the same level as Rooney, you may well be forgetting your comments.

posted on 31/12/13

He was on the verge of breaking through at 17 but as mentioned a horrific three way leg break happened and nearly ended his career before it began.

Wayne Rooney at same age as Barkley (20) went on to score 19 goals in 48 games for United.
