From the 552 jobs available in coaching at any level in the English football league 19 were held by MBE applicants from 471 qualfied.

If you think there is no problem with that fine.
------------------------

How many are qualified in total?

And do you think that 8 with UEFA Pro Licence is enough? You are asking why black coaches/managers aren't getting the top jobs in England, but don't you have to have the UEFA Pro Licence to manage in the PL?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul Ince got a job without the qualification to even coach in American soccer camps....

The skills to wait tables? Are you mad?

There's a reason people who are thick as 2 short planks can find jobs as waters/waitresses
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No its because asians are more likely to know the ins and outs of working in an indian restaurant. More so than a white candidate.

Has any white person in here tried applying for a waiters job in an indian restaurant before?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I applied for one at an Italian in uni and was told that although I 'look Italian' they wanted Italian speakers for authenticity. Fair enough if you ask me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Because you don't have the skills.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh you are desperate. They wanted an Italian for the job!

I was referring to French being told that he didn't have the skills to wait tables.

Okay - despite numerous amounts of evidence to the contrary there is no problem, despite lots of black people saying there is a problem, the stats proving that MBE's are under represented, there is no problem.

You're all white.

I would like to think in the years ahead this will not be an issue,The younger generation in this country is far more tolerant than the older generation imo. With the odd exception as we have seen in this thread.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
that really depends where you live to be honest.
Where i'm from, it's very multicultural yet you can feel the hate from both sides

What percentage of the country is black? The 2011 consensus suggests 3%. And the figures you supplied show that 3.5% of the 552 jobs in the football league are held by black coaches.

Is that not a fair representation?

I am not advocating racism at all. I am advocating basic freedoms. I honestly cannot comprehend why someone would oppose the right of a black business owner to employ a black individual to work for him on the basis that he felt more comfortable working with someone who shared a similar heritage/background

---------------------

Wow.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah that is kinda shocking. I grew up in a region where jobs, access to housing etc were largely decided upon simply by the persons cultural background. It's straight up discrimination no matter how this fella tries to colour it.

Nah, 100% would be fair...

Wow, that race card is getting over-played on this thread. Entitlement Britain fully evident here.

No it's not. Positive Discrimination is still discrimination. The Rooney Rule would be a completely moronic idea. You employ people based on whether they're good enough for the job, not their colour. Having one token black guy being interviewed for the job that, if you were racially biased as is being suggested, you wouldn't get anyway!
======================

I agree with that completely, alas the FA want to use a similar rule to ensure English players get a chance.

I see no difference

Elvis that census stat is meaningless. 19 jobs out of over 400 qualified is the one that counts. Interesting how many are refuting the possibility of institutional racism within the game though.

The rooney rule advocates that the best candidate gets the job. It came about because in many cases the best candidate was not getting the job simply due to ethnicity. There really shouldn't be an issue with the best candidate getting the job

-----------------------

I am not refuting anything. I am trying to look at things from every side. Why is the consensus meaningless? If 3% of the population is black, what do you think is a fair representation of black coaches in those top jobs? For me, anything around the 3% mark is fair.

How many white coaches are there that are qualified and applying for the roles alongside the black ones? If I have those figures then maybe I can see that the system is unfair, but for all I know, there might be 200,000. What is the figure please?

Yawn. Yes, entitlement Britain, pc gone made blah blah blah. All you hear is this from people of certain beliefs. If someone doesn't agree with a point of view then it's obviously entitlement Britain gone mad. Definitely.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Says the guy who is shocked by the prospect of a business owner having the freedom to employ whomever he/she wants.. What was it you said, "wow?"

I did indeed say wow at the thought of someone thinking that the colour of a persons skin can be the reason why they aren't employed. I sure am crazy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Such a narrow minded view you people are displaying on here. Freedom of choice is now racism? Get over yourselves, please! How can you not see the logic of allowing a business owner to work with whomever they choose in a business they have built themselves?

The irony. Discriminating in order to argue against discrimination
