Fascism has many definitions but they can all be grouped under 'total power for the state / governing body' - how anyone can disassociate that from the EU is beyond reasoning with.
******************************
Except the EU doesn't have 'total power' over all member nations.
******************************
Mussolini himself said that fascism should be called Corporatism because it's a merger of state and corporate power - how anyone can disassociate that from the EU is beyond reasoning with.
*******************************
EU sponsored by Mercedes/Lever Bros/Nestle...is that it? ffs.
******************************
Ireland was ignored and Greece was squashed by the European Union - Some of the biggest examples of state/governement power at the expense of people since WW2 - you couldn't get any more fascist.
****************************
The Irish people were ignored by their own government, ran a 2nd referendum on the Lisbon treaty because they knew what was good for the Irish people long term
Greece committed fraud in the first place, lied about its debts and assets.
********************************************
Brexit won because people cried out for democracy - the polar opposite of fascism.
*********************************
Because people cried out for immigration control...Hows that working out?
*************************************
The EU is run by unelected officials - with a leader who can bypass the will of a nation with a nod of the head.
********************************
Absolute rubbish!
As opposed to an unelectd hereditary monarch with a family history of racism and actual fascist support

There's a bunch of you on here who posted smileys when I suggested that the EU is a fascist union when all the evidence backs me up.

I find it incredible that people are laughing at the prospect of the EU collapsing. Ignoring the argument of how likely or not it is to happen, the ramifications for the UK (and the entire world) would be enormous and not in a good way.
70+ years since the end of WWII and some folk have forgotten the positives of unity.
Unity,a club where a few members put in,and a lot of members take out, what a price for unity.
FoM, implementation, preservation of human rights safeguards, anti-discrimination, multinational/global collaboration. The wealthy assisting the less privileged.
All of which are inherently countered to fascist beliefs. Yet they are all underlying principles of the EU.
Whilst some views of the EU appear to be somewhat subjective, the ‘alt-right’ and right wing ideologies are on the increase across the globe.
The one thing that unifies fascists however, is their opposition to the EU.
I very much think that people who voted to leave the Eu were fascists,we were just getting used to being labelled as racists.
As to the wealthy assisting the less privileged, the British are well near too the top of that league.

The comments/responses were in reply to a post earlier today from Metro who claimed the EU was a “fascist union”
The unique way EU funding grants are allocated are not specific to any one county. For example the more deprived areas of the UK, (an already wealthy nation) qualified for EU bloc funding grants (latest/last 2014 – 2020).
Which despite austerity cuts from the UK government, ensured many regions of the UK were net beneficiaries of our EU membership.
Wales and Northern Ireland in particular. The Welsh figuratively, voted to make themselves poorer.

Seriously, youre putting a price on peace and the quality of life improvement of all EU citizens, particularly those in southern and eastern Europe?
I fundamentally disagree with your I'm alright Jack outlook..,but hey, not being a fascist I'll fight for your right to hold that attitude.

So at the next election I take it you'll be voting for whoever promises an increase in taxation to pay for state-sponsored affordable housebuilding projects, social workers and addict rehabilitation programmes? Because it sure as hell won't happen by the efforts of charities like Shelter alone.

Maybe worth noting it was consecutive UK governments that failed to adequately implement the EU's poverty and social exclusion policy.

ONS figures demonstrate 180k migrants from EU. Circa 60k of which students. Not sure where 650k comes from.
In any event, until the UK deals with tax and welfare reform, the same problems will persist regardless of relationship with EU.
