It's called being modest. Scholes has never liked speaking about himself really.
Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Zidane all rate Scholes slightly higher. Go figure eh?
Regardless I don't think any utd fan would swap Scholes for Slippery
Makes an absolute mockery of all the know nothing Utd fans who used to trot out absolute bollox like "running a game" and other unquantifiable biased lies.
Pretty much every pro I've ever seen agrees with Scholes as well.
Lovely stuff.
It is this kind of modesty that lifts Scholes above Gerrard and the rest.

It is this kind of modesty that prevented Gerrard from ever reaching the level of Scholes, Lampard, Keane and Butt.

His mouth just ended the debate
Utd fans.... how good is Scholes going to be in ten years? He just keeps getting better and better.
He's already at least twice as good now as when he was playing. Does it level out and plateau or will he be better than Messi?

It's always been laughable how United fans jealously elevate some of their players just so they can have a legend like Gerrard. Embarrassing for them but also laughable.

Scholes was the playmaker in a team that one multiple league titles.
Gerrard was the firefighter in a team that had the occasional cup win. If you are to compare Gerrard with anyone it should be Rooney really. Although he comes out second best in that comparison too.

Cantona is the real classic.
Man scored about 14 goals once and they pronounce him a King ffs
'Oh yeah, I mean he came in and gave the whole club a lift.'
If we ordered Bergkamp from Wish.

Zidane never mentioned Gerrard to my knowledge he said this:
When once asked “what does it feel like to be the best player in the world?” Zidane reportedly replied: “I don’t know, ask Paul Scholes.”
Which is nonsense, as Zidane was clearly far superior to scholes. I think Zidane was being modest with that comment, but it does speak volumes in how high scholes was rated. I don’t think Zidane ever commented on SG.

Is he Gerard’s big brother or something?
Well a Scholes v Gerrard debate is certainly something to distract from the drama at United at present.
