Elvis;
Probably this bit;
"However, the fact that he could inspire them to cups, but not the league kind of emphasises my view "

How in your world does the word 'inspire' translate to winning the league on his own?

Thanks Redconn, bias aside its nice to see a healthy debate, it is interesting to see what people's thoughts are!
Dubbed just a word of advice.
Xavi & Iniesta dominate midfields. Not Xavi alone
Hatred of Liverpool? These Scousers really are paranoid.
What's there to hate on?
Who's hates on peasants? Surely not kings.
Dubbed The New Wenger -Sancti Cazorla (U9163)
But he's not as good as Xavi at dictating play. He is far far better at a lot of other things though. Personally I think Xavi is quality.
So you can't name any games then? But there are loads.
"Xavi & Iniesta dominate midfields. Not Xavi alone"
Xavi alone dominates the midfield. Watch Barcelona.
Elvis (U7425)
Because you're intimating that Gerrard has not won a league through ability rather than the fact he had Smicer alongside him.
I think you're a quality poster Elvis but that comment is blox.
Elvis, the year liverpool finished second to utd he could have inspired them vitory during the period they basicallt handed us the league, no?
"This is why Barca excell against teams who have these physical players. " Yes, of course.
=====================
The funny thing is that the two times Gerrard played Xavi and Iniesta he dominated them.
Xavi said Gerrard was the most difficult player he's played against.
Even if you dominated Gerrard in midfield he still managed to outclass you.
"But he's not as good as Xavi at dictating play. He is far far better at a lot of other things though. Personally I think Xavi is quality."
What other things does he do? Shoot really hard and run around, working hard?
"So you can't name any games then? But there are loads."
How many years have we been watching Gerrard? You want me to rake my brain and find games where he was dominated.
I gave you an example. Why ignore it? Have a look at the Arsenal game the other day.
Nowhere to be seen.
I'm sure some of the other posters here can give games where Gerrard got dominated by average player in the past.
We're talking about a guy often shortlisted for top world and European individual honours and who often finishes in the top two in polls of the best Liverpool player ever, a team who haven't been short of World class players for a few decades.
BusbysBabes (U9083)
Handed you the league? Didn't you get nearly 90 points winning 14 out of the last 16 games or something?
Our points total that year would have won us the league on 7 occassions. Utd did better and credit to them. Did you perhaps think that we would not have even got that far without him?
comment by There'sOnlyOneReds (U1721)
Unfortunately Gerrard will have to wait until he retires before he is recognised, due to the hatred of all things Liverpool being at the highest peak I've witnessed and some who are unable to look past current ability when it comes to players who are in their final years.
--------------------------------
Why do you think that the hatred for LFC is at its peak right now?
The club aren't even competing at the moment. If anything I'd say you are more likely to get a balanced view at the moment.
Dubbed The New Wenger -Sancti Cazorla (U9163)
Riiiiight - a game from last weekend. Scholes can't play 90 minutes. His careers a joke. Overrated.
"Xavi alone dominates the midfield. Watch Barcelona."
Did you watch them against Valencia. No Iniesta=no drive from midfield. Co-incidently the same quality Gerrard gives you from midfield
"The funny thing is that the two times Gerrard played Xavi and Iniesta he dominated them.
Xavi said Gerrard was the most difficult player he's played against.
Even if you dominated Gerrard in midfield he still managed to outclass you."
The most blinkered, deluded and idiotic fan on here. No doubt.
Leiva la vida Lucas (U2720)
Dubbed knows more than Fergie and Zidane apparently.
Scholes and Gerrard would have made a brilliant pairing in fact.
===================
True
Scholes is a legend of the game and my most favourite United player.
Infamous, of course everything stems from the brain, but what you now seem to be saying is that technique is any process you put your body through that your brain's involved in - that being every single thing your body does. Ok, I imagine you could argue that controlling your breathing is a technique that you can develop, but while that might hold up in a conference on psychomotricity, I don't think that's what how we generally understand it in football.
"Riiiiight - a game from last weekend. Scholes can't play 90 minutes. His careers a joke. Overrated."
What has 90 mins to do with anything? Class is permanent.
Funny you mentioned Scholes though.
He came on and made a difference, virtually winning Man U the game.
Genuinely can't believe how biased Liverpool fans can be. There is nothing of the sort. This is why you get the 'hate' even when you are doing badly.
If you don't think so, then what other reason could it be?

I would even go on a limb and say that Scholes / Gerrard would be on par with Xavi and Iniesta.

Yeah. Fall back on a few quotes. Just goes to show how desperate you are.
There are countless quotes about Henry. You don't see gooners using it as a basis for debate.

Again, I haven't said anything of the sort.
I said that he hasn't won the league because he does have the nuance to control the tempo of certain games where it is required. Whilst his all action displays have been good enough to secure some cups, over the course of the season, where you invariably play games that aren't played at 100 miles an hour, he has been found out.
It is you that keeps on going on about this player and that player. I haven't mentioned any of them.
Infamous, of course everything stems from the brain, but what you now seem to be saying is that technique is any process you put your body through that your brain's involved in - that being every single thing your body does. -----------------------------------------
I see what you're saying my point was more to do with the fact that technique can be built and nurtured through surroundings education etc and then sourced back via your brain. Which is why i am certain that the Barca academy spends a lof of time working on the brain as well as the phyiscal side.
