Automatic or Manual cars?

It can depend, but it usually doesn't.

.............

I find it the opposite conor.

There are very few gear stick cars that will beat mine from a standing start.

In fact I really hate being behind gear sticks at a traffic light. they stick out like a sore thumb.

I will bet it is because most of them haven't driven one.

I drove manual from the age of 18 through about 38. Easy enough and not a problem.

Once I got in an Auto, that was it. Life was far easier.

Anyone who says driving a manual is easier either hasn't driven an auto, or he is lying.

I think that's just old age kicking in at 38 though

We all agree that it's easier, but so is swimming with floaties on your arms. Doesn't mean I'm going to go around doing it

Also I find it annoying that it's usually the big cars that are automatic. I want something like a Polo as a first car and they're usually manual transmission

If you've stalled 40 times then maybe it'd be easier if you invested in a bus pass.

That's based on the driver, not the car. It's a fact that when comparing the same 2 cars, a competant driver can always accelerate faster in the manual. You move at your own pace rather than what the machine allows you to

Once you've used manual for a while you will get used to it.

But what are you really doign with that free hand eh?

..............

Drinking coffee without getting it all over my shirt.

It is very easy to do.

Where on earth do you put your coffee when you have to change gear?

Well I don't know what car you drive VC, but i'd wager if you were side by side with the same car as yours but a manual, it would leave you behind in a race.

Manual is so easy by the way. You just gotta get used to it. Like others have said, changing gears becomes so easy

You need to invest in a car with cupholders .

Seriously, I drink a coffee and have a cigarette on my 25 mile journey in the morning and have no issues.

If you stick it out, you'll appreciate the decision later trust me. 7 or 8 months since I passed and it seems natural. I think everyone considers going auto at some point.

Not in the first two or three hundred yards that is for certain.

Unless I was up against the Stig, maybe.

So I think it has been established that driving a manual is for old, lazy people or girls and driving a manual is for real men

Yes Auto is for girls, old men
Manual for the ladsssssssss.

That's when the manual would take a heavy lead.

In an automatic, when you put your foot down, the car will change gear at the soonest possible moment, whereas the driver of the manual can stay in lower gears longer and accelerate quicker

So, are you saying you have to put your coffee in a cup holder when you change gears?

Well that is inconvenient. Very inconvenient in a city.

Autos also have cup holders by the way, Mr C.
