Literally no-one on this planet is above criticism tbh
There's a whole host of factors that should be considered for this season's start and preparation & tactics are two of them. That's on Klopp
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with this in as far as Klopp seems to stick with his style of play, even when he doesn't have key players available. He doesn't seem to change much to account for unavailable top players.
And I'm my view that leads into another problem which is my main culprit which is fitness. We simply cannot continue like this IMO. FSG and the club have to do something. I don't know any manager that hasn't had a drop off in results when there's this many injuries for a prolonged period of time. Many teams suffer when they lose just two players for a single game.
We have also signed players who we knew had bad injury records, like Ox, who apparently Klopp wanted when he was an obvious sicknote at Arsenal. 40m for him. Keita had a decent record in Germany and there was no way to predict he would turn into the kind of sicknote he is.
In addition to that we kept extending their contracts, which meant we didn't regularly bring in enough players in their positions.
You can't lose Thiago, put in Elliot instead and not expect a drop in performance. Just my opinion. I'm happy enough with Elliot and have great faith in him but he's no Thiago, yet. He's not even Hendo. I feel we need better players than where he is currently if we want to compete with machine like City, and that could help Elliott's game too. Same goes for Jones.
Their level isn't good enough yet, but obviously that's not the only problem we have. If Ox and Keita could stay fit I reckon Elliot would have seen a lot less minutes, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. They'd get in the team ahead of him regularly.
He's still a teenager and people are saying he's been overplayed. If that's the case it shouldn't be happening. And it's happening because for one reason or another our players can't stay fit, and when they do they still don't look fit during games. Klopp isn't adjusting his playing style for this IMO. Sometimes, when besieged from all directions, you've got to perhaps try to park a tiny bus and try to hit on the counter IMO. Can't just keep having seven players ahead of the ball when they can't track back or react quick enough.
The 4121 diamond is basically a 433 which we played with Mane and Salah as the inside forwards but at this moment we are playing Nunez and Salah as the two attackers. The only difference is Thiago and Elliott are playing instead of Gini and Hendo.
Elliott is the problem in this system. He is easily beaten on the right hand side which creates unnecessary pressure. This can be solved if we get a midfield destroyer in January. Watch the first Leeds goal. It starts on our right hand side and Elliott tries to press Struijk but failed. Winning the ball high up the pitch is why City defenders rarely get in trouble.
We can't have two weak defenders on that side with Elliott and Trent.
We need Gomez as the rb and Konate as the RCB if we want to play Elliott in midfield. It's all about creating the right balance of the team with selecting the right players to negate our weaknesses in certain positions.

Watched Joao Gomes of Flamengo in the copa libertadores final in the weekend and the guy did an excellent job in midfield. Vitor Roque is another great talent and played in that game and looks a good player in the mould of Jesus.
We need to gamble on those players before they get expensive.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We should be looking at Enzo Fernandez at Benfica. He is a tenacious baller.
For legs we should be looking at Kaudio Kone. Currently at Gladbach so both will not cost a bomb.
Both 22 too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
ive only seen wolves a few times this season but nunes was already their main source of anything in mf. The fulham new signing in midfield had a very good game vs us too palhinha? he's impressed me when ive seen fulham.
both from sporting cp funning enough
20m for palhinha 38m nunes
Elliotts doing really well all things considered, Carvalho in glimpses and not done great out wide, seems to struggle in w.e is asked of him but if we're honest no more than salah has out wide either.
Jones.... i know back from injury but fack me that cameo vs leeds
Clearly we needed a lot more freshening up after such a gruelling and even though outstanding season ultimately demoralising ending to it.
Not just players either, we clearly didnt do enough and Klopp admitted as much when it was too late with an arthur loan thats gone horribly wrong, injuring the guy tryna get him up to speed .
But also the staff, its all gone very stale on the tactics/system front and they cant get a tune out of hardly any of them. Robbo had a good game vs leeds Alisson and Elliott prob our only 2 overall who can be happy enough with their overall performances this year.
The diamond we played at the weekend was far narrower than any 4-3-3 we've played. It allowed Leeds to press the space far easier I feel and what was supposed to create over loads on their rammal cb's actually lead to us not being able to isolate them one bit.
All we can really do at the moment is play a diamond though - anything else is just leaving our already fragile midfield very exposed.
Main difference from the 4-3-3 is that Firmino should be sitting in midfield a bit more rather than getting forward so much - our width has always come from the left/rightbacks.
And to be honest, no formation changes are going to save us if we're making as many silly mistakes as we did against Leeds - they knew we had mistakes in us and kept pushing.

I feel he needs to improve his game when we don't have the ball. Elliot's pressing can be a bit frustrating. He rushes in and gets turned too often but he's not the only one. Pressing isn't just rushing the man on the ball and that's one thing Mane understood very well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
What Mane did was positioning himself between the opposition centre back and fullback to cut off the diagonal passing lane. Salah did the same on the other side. Firmino providing the cover shadow to the opposition dm. It is basically a combination of zonal pressing and man to man defending which the two 8s provided. This forced the opposition goalkeeper to hoof the ball forward to our centre backs. It was rinse and repeat.
Nunez hasn't grasped this pressing tactic yet. He was used at Benfica to press the opposition centre back horizontally.
Elliott has been asked to do the man to man defending but he is not physically good enough.
That's why a good defensive midfielder will help Trent to push forward and get the best out of him.
Think we're definitely signing a player in Jan because all 3 of Pearce, Reddy and Jones have come out in the last 24 hours with articles about how the midfield is cooked and needs reinforcements.
It's an obvious statement, but it's odd they've all said it at the exact same time so makes me think they've been briefed.

Caicedo would be my number one choice otherwise Laimer who is a pressing monster. Hopefully Bayern won't go for him.
We need 2 ready-made starters imo. PLayers who can play about 80% of the games a season. Lessen the responsibility on Elliott, Jones & Carvalho so they can develop without the pressure the team is under now...although Elliott has been coping tbh.
Then we can sell Keita & Ox and finally make Henderson, Thiago & Milner the squad players they should've been for about 2 years now. Not so much Thiago though
Keita and Ox will probably leave on frees. Anyone reckon they go down as some of our worst signings? Considering the fees paid? Or have we seen worse many times before?
Keita had his best season last season and if he remaijed fit he would have been a starter. For both players it is injuries and not talent. Worst signing is still donkey Carroll.
Keita had his moments tbh and we never bought an injury prone player, he became one under us. Also the change in tactics and midfield responsibilities completely changed from when we scouted him to when we actually bought him. He was given a free role at Leipzig and we tried to turn him into something he was never going to be. That makes it a bad deal.
Ox also had his moment but literally everyone in football knew he was a injury crisis. For me he's a worse signing than Keita.
