This is good news for no one other than those fortunate enough to have substantial savings.

Dev, Hector won’t get it, he’s too busy yapping about 3-5yrs down the line!
Yup Interest rates not falling, higher inflation and lower pay rises due to the NIC increase but Labour said it wouldn’t take from the working class!

"BREAKING
The Bank of England has cut interest rates for the second time this year.
It has set the rate at 4.75%, down 0.25 percentage points from 5%.
Today’s decision means rates are now at their lowest point in more than year. The last time rates were below 5% was last June., external
This decision could lead to cheaper borrowing costs for things like mortgages and loans, but also lower returns on savings."

and here today:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c2dljrgdzeno
The Entertainer, with 160 shops across the country has scraped plans to open 2 more due to NI rise, and they're a big business.
What i still do not really get is how the action of the budget goes any way to achieving these 2 quotes from various Govt sources:
"We had to make difficult choices to fix the foundations of the country."
NI Rises were needed to "restore desperately needed economic stability to allow businesses to thrive".
How does anything they have done, and especially raising NI, achieve this.
Taxing businesses more, taking action that will drive inflation and thus keep interest rates up. How is this creating stability or fixing foundations.
It begs the question of what they think the foundations are. It seems they think its public spending, but it isnt. It is always the economy because public spending is entirely linked to its success or failire.
And as for stability, business was already sitting on its hands fearful of what the budget might bring after a doom and gloom messaging since the election. Now they are going to continue to do so, and probably for a longer period as interest rates stay high for longer and inflation rises.

Interest rates were always coming down from their recent high as inflation was under control and close to the target 2%
The response to the budget and likely increased inflation is that they will likely remain higher for longer, therefore prolonging the historically rate of borrowing on millions of home owners and businesses.

Tory fanboys sudden concern for the working class is satire of the highest order
Where was this concern when a Tory peer was one of many accused of defrauding the taxpayer during a pandemic?
Where was the concern for the working class after Liz Truss' budget?
Where was the concern when we wasted hundreds of millions on Rwanda to send 4 people there?
I'm not mistaken in thinking that anyone who voted Tory after the above things has no real concern for the working class and is being disingenuous.

Is is talk but any Chancellor who knows their salt will j derstand that sectors like hospitality will be hit hard by a double whammy of Minimum wages rises and NI increases. That's not to say the wage rises is a bad thing but the combined effect will obviously increase the costs of employing staff which will lead to prices rises (inflation) or unemployment or both.
The massive grab from NI really hasn't been thought through. Take 20bn from businesses means businesses have to find 20bn just to tread water.

Hector resides in North London ,I suppose to be near his hero poor old Jeremy Corbyn and his like !
fanniefields got the hell out and resides in abject poverty, I'm sure , in sunny southern Spain !
You have to laugh at them !

I don't live in North London, a basic fact that you have wrong and the rest of your post makes no sense.
As a working class, PAYE employee I applaud a plan that brings us jam tomorrow, continue crying though.

“Rachel Reeves will this weekend be told by some of Britain's biggest hospitality groups that the tax hikes imposed in last month's Budget risk triggering a tsunami of job losses across the sector, a letter to the chancellor calling her inaugural fiscal statement "regressive in [its] impact on lower earners" and warning that "business closures and job losses within a year" are inevitable.”
Oops indeed!!!

Hector and fanniefields, are both typical of the hypocritical ,elitist, socialist/labour day dream believers, who blame everyone but themselves for the woes in society !

I'm pretty sure that you said that you lived in North London Hector, but I can't be bothered to argue trivialities so we shall have to agree to disagree
You can always ask the missus to make a plan to make you some jam tomorrow Hector, is she in a union as well ?
Also, I am so sorry my post doesn't make sense to you, but my ironic humour and satire, seems strange to certain types ! and you don't have to read it you know !

I did but don't anymore, so it's not agreeing to disagree, I don't. What my missus has to do with anything is beyond me and I thought it only polite to read what you'd said about me.

The only “basic fact” here is you’ve proven yourself to be a childish kock!
So you did live in NL and HVH was right, yes you’ve moved, but unless you’d let him know how is it a basic fact”?
Maybe it was just a juvenile point scoring comment!

What you have to ask yourself is, was I replying directly to HVH’s comment or directly to your comment which made no mention of Corbyn?
It’s only hours later you’ve chosen to be offended by his reference to Corbyn!

I'm not offended and thanks for taking the time to clarify what you meant.
