Alright I'll own up it was me, I created the Universe. I didnt mean to, I was brewing my own lager too much sugar and BANG!

I'm an agnostic, more so because I just cannot comprehend how the universe and everything inside of it came about by chance instead of because I believe there could be a God out there somewhere.

I've never been religious nor slightly interested in any form of worship, but these science questions are so intriguing and difficult to answer. I personally don't believe in the Big Bang due to the ridiculously small probability of it happening.

Well basically,
Our whole universe was in a hot dense state,
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. Wait...
The Earth began to cool,
The autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools,
We built a wall (we built the pyramids),
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries,
That all started with the big bang!

I hope that helps

Would you all agree then that the notion of an eternal universe requires a greater leap of faith than one with a start point ?

Is it? This man decides to create us for no apparent reason. Tells us to worship him, pray to him, basically do exatly what he says or he will inflict us with never ending torture. If something goes wrong in our lives we must beg him to make it better.

It is pretty much the definition of sadomasochism.

How does religion explain dinosaurs out of interest?
...................................................

People who are religious believe that dinosaurs didn't exist and that fossils were put there to test peoples faith in God, genuinely.

It's a truly fascinating debate. I believe there is a God who caused the universe we live in to exist.

However I also believe man's interpretation of God is, is flawed by man's biased views and view points.

I'm a scientist and the more I study the world I live in, the more it points to intelligent design and a supernatural origin.

Time is considered by humans to be a constant, but time perception is far from constant e.g. a fly sees a humans movement as like watching slow motion, hence the evade our attacks, which to them appear cumbersome, but to us could be ninja - as our time perceptions are different..............

As a species we have natural order and law - we seem to be able to differentiate between right and wrong. The conscience is the real mystery.
--------------------------------
The conscience is biology - chemical reactions happen in the brain when we do things. When these things are good, the brain gives itself positive feedback.

What our brain defines as good has been decided by what keeps us alive the best. Animals who made decisions that kept themselves alive and received positive feedback from the brain would obviously stay alive and reproduce, giving future generations the same 'conscience'.

On an evolutionary scale, we probably seek to help other people so that they help us back and that aids our survival.

No, you have stolen most of this article form a lecture given 18 years ago.

Agreed, Agnostic for same reasons.
I don't pretend to KNOW what went on.
I'm open minded about it.

===

Exactly. Religious people are often persistent with their preaching of a creator, but it is actually surprising to see how many devout atheists and scientists are just as close-minded with their refusal to even accept the possibility of a creator, nor any other explanation for the universe than the Big Bang.

Could you expand more on that? It sounds very interesting

There are examples in the animal world that even scientists have conceded would seemingly suggest a supreme creator......A certain Woodpecker for example whose tongue wraps around his brain inside his skull and has...wait for it...an ear on the end of its tongue to hear termites.
-------------------------------------------

Actually just 3 chapters into the Blind Watchmaker... When each generation is heavily stressed and an evolutionary refinement it doesn't take that long to create weird creatures.

And not only do we have hoe's. We also done got nice herb to puff on while the hoe's gobble the weasel. Any man who doubt God exists need to look down a 7+/10 dime hoe next time they down there and then look at the nicely laced blunt you puffin on. Nah mean?
