so what? The OP stated the greatest players he has seen.

Why don't you compile a list of greats from the 1930s then?

Thank you. I also put please add players from your era, would it not be easier to do this than to make sarcastic comments, i wonder.

Gerrard, however, is the complete footballer I'm afraid. Can play literally anywhere and has. Won 11 trophies average teams and been voted man of the match in finals.
--------------------------------

Not for me he isn't. He has never had the ability to dictate the pace of a game for me. He is/was great when the pace of the game was 100 miles an hour, but when it required a more subtle approach he was often found wanting and the game would pass him by. A very very good player, but not world class in my opinion.

Clearly Greg United shows that age is not a barometer for intelligenc, with such comments.

If you include Totti you can include Bergkamp, Messi etc. I think OP means proper CMs.

Robbing_Hoody

Gerrard simply is not in the top bracket. His technical ability is too limited. I like him as a player, but he is never going to be a world renowned legend.

Fellaini....

very true, met him once..in a pub, on a tues afternoon when he was with your lads...

I think he's just a different type. You get tempo players - you get dynamic inspirational Captains.

Scholes, Xavi, Pirlo

Robson, Keane, Gerrard

As said could Scholes play RB? No.

All the 6 I've just listed are World class. Fergie thinks so too.

Zidane, scholes and davids

If anyone uses trophies as a yardstick.....lets talk about Giggs

aha no, im not that old.

it just annoys me how people say greatest midfielders of all time and only add recent players.

similar to people who think messi is the greatest player of all time which is just ridiculous

sorry 7, one was the uefa cup.

Haha, I think he was including the community shield and super cup!

WTF who cares if Gerrard has played RB. So has O'Shea.

So hippo we back to winning stuff...

so answer my question then does it make Luke Chadwick better than RVP? He's won Prem...RVP only won FA cup in British domestic football???

by your logic that makes sense doesnt it???

To be fair i was waiting for someone to shout some abuse with my list.

I simply cant include the likes of Gullit, Zico etc as i have not seen enough of them to comment. But there is other users that have so i would love to here thier opinion.

We are talking about world class CMs. What has being able to play at RB got to do with it?

I personally wouldn't say that Keane was world class either.

Nedved and Zidane are more advanced. I think a the core CM is someone like Xavi, Scholes type who do both duties defend and attack. Zidane floats about all over the shop.

andre's samba scarf (U6253)

Because he is the complete footballer and you need different types to make a team. He won't be a world renowned legend because he stayed with us but he is the complete footballer. It makes me laugh that so many people go out of their way to shout Gerrard down but people are putting in David's, Gattuso and Totti?

I'll agree with his peers and some of the greatest managers of all time rather than you I'm afraid.

Hang on a minute, it was a LFC fan that brought up Gerrard's trophy haul, not Hippo. He was merely correcting the trophy count.

Because people, stupidkly are saying he does not have technical ability when he can play every position on the pitch and has done. Complete footballer = World Class.
